The Business Performance and Analytics area provides a window into the firm-wide financials for Senior Management, providing insightful value add analysis and commentaries to support decision-making. This covers revenues, costs, balance sheet/capital and client franchise performance. In addition, the team also provides understanding of the cross-financial drivers for our client's performance, as well as that of key competitors.

The team is responsible for forecasting and planning of the client's financials, alongside business profitability analysis, legal entity forecasting, analysing underlying performance and emergent issues, competitor analysis, as well as deep dives into specific areas of the business.

Overall purpose of role:

The team has responsibility for a number of key financial performance reporting and planning deliverables to senior management. These include the following:

  • In year forecasting and Medium Term Plan (MTP)
  • Competitor Analysis
  • Stress Testing
  • Structural Reform Project


Key Accountabilities and Skills required:

  • Key specific accountabilities:
    • Drive IB forecasting processes working closely with Businesses, Treasury, Tax and Risk to consolidate plans for the Investment Bank
    • Prepare analytics to support Financial Review committee papers and senior management decision making
    • Support quarter end analysis of benchmarking the Investment Bank with competitors project initiatives
    • Analyse and develop legal entity forecasting processes to support the project of Structural Reform Programme (SRP)
    • Support the implementation and utilisation of a Hyperion based planning and reporting tool (Optimus) to drive efficiencies and collaboration across finance teams
  • Stakeholder management and leadership:
    • This is a high profile role and as such would require the incumbent to be comfortable interacting with peers and senior management both locally and globally, across Finance, Risk, Treasury, Financial Control, Regulatory Reporting and Group as well as playing a collaborative role within the team. The individual should be dynamic, analytical, and collaborative; a self-starter that is always willing to push boundaries

  • Decision making and problem solving.
    • Modelling the firm wide IB forecast to support planning and decision making for the current month. Liaison with finance teams to ensure effective incorporation and messaging
    • Understand the key Revenue and Cost drivers for the Investment Bank
    • Ad hoc financial analysis as requested by Senior management, often within short time-frames
    • Change management for Finance projects with an active involvement in significant projects such as SRP, utilisation of Optimus and developing forecasting processes realignment
  • Risk and Control: All bank colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Policies and Policy Standards



Your Skills and Qualifications will include

  • Preferred candidates would be a qualified accountant with degree (or equivalent) with post qualified experience
  • Experience in BP&A or equivalent teams within a large organisation is
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques an advantage (e.g. profitability metrics, financial allocation processes, trend and variance analysis etc.)
  • Self-motivated / Self-starter
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, particularly in relation to conveying issues in a straightforward and concise manner
  • Strong problem solving, time management and prioritisation skills
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Delivery orientated with excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy of information
  • Ability to take ownership and responsibility, identifying the key tasks that need to be completed and proactively working within the team to work to produce high quality output whilst meeting tight deadlines
