Global Payments Leader Gets Agile

The Client: a division of a global payments and investment banking technology group.

The Approach: our client had made the strategic decision to adopt a universal Agile development methodology. This would be the first part of the bank to embrace the techniques and therefore there was little internal knowledge of best practise and techniques involved. We were engaged to help hire six certified Agile coaches to train individual teams and help the change process.

With no individual consultant specialising in this highly niche area at the time, we assembled a matrix team with experience of different recruitment verticals including development, business analysis and project management. An exhaustive search of the market was executed using a variety of tools and techniques including advertising, referrals, our in-house candidate database and social media. Candidates were interviewed in person as part of the process to ensure that the required level of gravitas specified by our client was achieved with the short list.

The Outcome: we were successful in placing three Agile coaches and our client achieved their target of changing their development culture. Our client was then able to embark on an entirely new program of work to build an award winning liquidity platform, inviting us to help hire specialised Agile Java developers, Agile testers and iteration managers for the team.
