Financial Services Product Manager/Analyst – Glasgow - £55,000-£60,000


An opportunity to work in a team based in Glasgow for a global leader in financial services. You will be responsible for a work stream on a large project and will lead the implementation of said project. Working closely with the product owner and other team members, the candidate will be involved in all stages of the development life cycle from requirements gathering to post-release support.


An ideal candidate will have the drive to make new software products and the sophistication and experience to make it a reality. We are implementing agile software development methodologies (Extreme Programming, Kanban, Scrum, etc.) and are looking for business analysts excited about working in a progressive development environment. Key Requirements:

  • Teamwork
    • Work with the Product Owner to deliver stories successfully
    • Interact with business users to produce appropriately detailed and accurate stories
    • Ensure that stories are fully understood, and any extra information required by the developers is fed back to them
    • Work with and help other business analysts & developers to take group responsibility and ensure that the team delivers
  • Planning
    • Provide all information required by the developers to produce accurate estimates where possible in planning sessions, and where not possible ensure that all risks are recorded, and missing information is investigated
    • Continually critique team performance and feedback any suggestions or concerns in retrospective sessions
    • Continually refresh functional knowledge through training, reading, attending conferences, etc
  • Design
    • Consider best practices and development standards when participating in designing solutions
    • Ensure that relevant functional authorities and architects are involved to ratify design decisions
    • Work with Developers and business users to gather all required business knowledge to complete design & build
  • Development
    • Regularly demonstrate new functionality to the rest of the team, and to business users
    • Raise risks & issues
    • Be available to the Developers for any workshops or discussion of new functionality
  • Testing
    • BDD approach to requirements and testing.
    • Perform functional testing, investigating, and feeding back issues to Developers
    • Ensure that testing is appropriately documented, with evidence recorded
    • Help promote and implement automated testing for all regression tests and new functional tests

    The role

    The company is seeking a Data Architecture Lead who will be responsible for designing and implementing the data architecture that underpins SST’s Data and Digital strategy. The candidate will work closely with product, operations, and technology partners to develop the next generation data platform to support new products and services. The candidate will also significantly contribute to solutions and design of new builds for the Data and Digital offering. The role will cover solutions across all Securities Services products. The candidate will be on the cutting edge of new digital innovations and will help to evolve and transform the Securities Services business. The global nature of the role will require excellent navigation and communication skills across business and technology teams.

    The responsibilties

    • Provide thought-leadership in evolving the data landscape and how it applies to the Securities Services business.
    • Lead a small and highly accomplished technology team of architects encompassing data modelling, data quality and data management.
    • Lead the development of standards, architectural governance, design patterns and IT practices. This will include standards for data artefacts – data dictionaries, input file formats, output file formats and the use of data modelling, lineage reporting and metadata related tools.
    • Develop comprehensive knowledge of how different areas of technology, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals.
    • Create detailed data flow diagrams and design across a complex integration footprint.
    • Develop and maintain the IT asset register and the data lineage across the applications for SST.
    • Define and maintain standard entities, related to Investment and Fund Accounting, Custody, Transfer Agency and their corresponding dictionaries.
    • Design and management of physical architecture including hardware, capacity planning, and performance of various systems, in conjunction with the infrastructure and environment management team.

    • Expert knowledge of design patterns underpinning Cloud data platform (Snowflake), data lake, No-SQL datastores, relational databases and object storage.
    • Expert knowledge of Domain driven, and Events based architecture patterns.
