Are you a Product Owner with a passion for Data? An exciting opportunity has arisen in an award-winning innovative insurance and technology organization who deliver market-leading motor insurance, underwriting, distribution, finance, technology and legal services.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Data Product Owner to join our Technology and Data Team in either Salford Quays, Manchester or Haywards Heath, West Sussex.

The Data Product Owner will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of data products and services in line with business needs and expectations. The Data Product Owner will develop and own the broad roadmap for their products. Delivering efficient and quality products that add value to the business and customers. This is a key role leading one or several data product teams, the role holder will build cooperative relationships with their internal customers, Business Change delivery, Architecture, Data Operations and the broader Data and Analytics functions, to improve the delivery lifecycle, reduce handoffs and improve overall flow efficiency.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and own the vision and roadmap for your product, created in tight consultation and agreement with your business stakeholders, and one that balances feature development with product improvement.
  • Take full responsibility for the requirements, management, and delivery of items in your product backlog, ensuring a clear, transparent, prioritised backlog.
  • Effectively prioritise and co-ordinate the work carried out by your product team, considering value, delivery feasibility, and time.
  • Build exceptional working relationships with your Product customers, working from their perspective in represent their needs to your product team and the broader D&A function.
  • Align your product team’s plans with wider change delivery plans across other Data and Analytics products to ensure optimal delivery of data change.
  • Drive the innovative use of data to support the achievement of business ambitions, bringing art of the possible thinking, and early prototypes to demonstrate value.
  • Embed Agile and Lean practices into your product, being relentless about improving flow using measurement and insights to spot opportunities to improve product delivery.
  • Provide clarification and refinement of user stories and non-functional requirements to your product team.
  • Become the Data SME for the Data and Analytics function within the data subject areas and business domains in which you work.
  • Lead one or a small number of data product teams (max 8 full time employees per product) in a matrix management approach.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in a Product Ownership (or similar) role
  • A broad data background, across, data requirement elicitation, data visualisation, data engineering, and data governance, with likely deep experience in one or more disciplines.
  • Excellent understanding and experience of working with visualisation tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Qliksense etc
  • Experience of creating and maintaining roadmaps for Data & Analytics functions.
  • Background in creating data user stories as part of agile delivery methods.
  • Use of delivery management tools such as Confluence, Azure DevOps, Jira.
  • Good grounding in agile software change practices, ideally in a data function.
  • Previous application of LEAN thinking and methods to improve flow efficiency.

    The company is seeking a Data Architecture Lead who will be responsible for designing and implementing the data architecture that underpins SST’s Data and Digital strategy. The candidate will work closely with product, operations, and technology partners to develop the next generation data platform to support new products and services. The candidate will also significantly contribute to solutions and design of new builds for the Data and Digital offering. The role will cover solutions across all Securities Services products. The candidate will be on the cutting edge of new digital innovations and will help to evolve and transform the Securities Services business. The global nature of the role will require excellent navigation and communication skills across business and technology teams.

    The responsibilties

    • Provide thought-leadership in evolving the data landscape and how it applies to the Securities Services business.
    • Lead a small and highly accomplished technology team of architects encompassing data modelling, data quality and data management.
    • Lead the development of standards, architectural governance, design patterns and IT practices. This will include standards for data artefacts – data dictionaries, input file formats, output file formats and the use of data modelling, lineage reporting and metadata related tools.
