About the role

As an IT Application Architect, you will be part of a trusted party at the centre of the global FX ecosystem. Utilized by thousands of counterparties, making FX safer, smoother and more cost effective. Trillions of dollars’ worth of currency flows through these systems each day.

Key responsibilities include:

· Working closely with product owners and the Application Development teams in maintaining and developing the architecture of the in-house developed FX settlement applications and supporting systems.

· Production of high-level designs for delivery projects affecting the USP platform, in addition to maintenance of baseline design document and associated artefacts.

· Provide overall technical leadership to the project delivery teams enforcing and communicating the design and architecture.

· Provide feasibility & impact assessments of IT solutions to business and IT led initiatives.


· Engage with the Enterprise Architects, business development and technology platform owners to shape an application architecture, strategy and tactical plan aligned to the business and technology strategy.

· Drive continuous improvement to the architecture methodologies, processes and standards.


· Produce high level design documentation describing application solutions in accordance with the architectural development method including effective identification and management of technical risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies.

· Map business & non-functional requirements to IT solutions aligned to strategic architecture

· Provide feasibility & impact assessments of IT solutions to business and IT led initiatives.

· Evaluate and recommend solutions, alternative frameworks, products / solutions available to current and future releases of product.

· Provide technical leadership and direction to the IT delivery and test teams throughout implementation phases


· Demonstrate and promote a risk culture appropriate for a critical market infrastructure

· Provide support to IT Architects and other technology teams working on delivery projects to ensure new systems are integrated into the existing architecture in an optimized and strategic manner.

Experience / essential and desired for successful job performance

· Experience in a senior IT delivery role designing and developing back-end mission critical applications with focus fault tolerant, distributed applications

· A good working understanding of all aspects of the software development life-cycle.

· Experienced in managing a high performance, diverse and globally distributed team

Qualifications / Certifications

· Bachelor and/or Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

· Qualification or certification in Architecture methodology or technology solutions such as TOGAF, CITA or RHCA.

Knowledge, skills and abilities / competencies required for successful job performance

· Experience with cross-border payments, foreign exchange and SWIFT and ISO2022 messaging

· Expert in some or all of the following technologies: C, C++, Java, J2EE in a Linux environment

· Expert understanding of software design methodologies, processes and design patterns

· Strong leadership, stakeholder management and line-management skills

    As the adoption of Data, Analytics and Intelligent Automation continues, the role of this Applied Science Automation Designer is to ensure that these capabilities are playing an effective role in advising the Group’s Transformation agenda. Helping ensure we continuously improve outcomes for customers by having a comprehensive understanding of their financial behaviours and the products, services and processes that meet their needs.

    The role is focused on creating awareness and driving adoption of Data, Analytics and Intelligent Automation across a broad range of domains. Working collaboratively with delivery teams in the Chief Data Office and Intelligent Automation labs to apply expertise in order to shape solutions and drive data centric ways of working and deliver Automation solutions.

    Working within a small team you'll have the opportunity to influence significant and enduring change; helping improve customer experience and reach the right outcomes for customers.

    The main purpose of this role is to advocate and drive greater adoption of Data, Analytics and Intelligent Automation. Working collaboratively across a broad range of customers to identify and recommend where Applied Science tools, techniques and capabilities can improve customer outcomes and realise commercial value. Shaping new implementations and working collaboratively with the Bank of the Future and other customers to effectively resource and deliver change, realise value and deliver better outcomes for customers. You'll be key to the positioning and communication of these capabilities to colleagues across the Group.

    For this role the specific Applied Science capabilities of interest are aligned to our Intelligent Automation enablers of Digital Products, Natural Language Analytics Products, Virtual Assistants, RPA+ and Machine Learning Platforms.

    • Demonstrable experience (direct or indirect) in one or more Intelligent Automation (IA) capabilities like Chatbot, RPA, Document Processing, Machine Learning, Speech Analytics.
    • Have a good understanding of more than one financial product end to end journey. On-boarding and/or Servicing journeys.
    • Experienced in working with senior stakeholders helping them taking critical decisions.
    • Experienced in supporting multiple business areas/projects at the same time.
    • Experienced in writing proposal document – Desired skill.
    • Challenging the status quo where appropriate to improve customer and colleague journeys
    • Building and leveraging robust stakeholder relationships to embed Intelligent Automation capabilities.

    As part of the IT Security team, develop and implement the firm's IT Strategy in consultation with the IT teams, ensuring that all initiatives are mirrored in respective strategies including the overall Strategy

    Provide security advice and support for information technology projects

    The responsibilities

    • Responding to control failures, working internally with SecOps, stakeholder engaging to course correct incidents.

  • Software Engineer

    I am currently working with an investment management company set up to pursue systematic trading strategies (currently have 5bn assets under management).

    The team are open to any programming language background with a willingness to work with Python: strong CS fundamentals and problem-solving skills matter more to the team than experience in a particular language. No finance experience is required.

    The existing team of 7 are looking for two developers to join and work on:

    - New FX and Futures execution systems
    - New Market Data projects
    - Assisting with the implementation of containers and cloud tech

    2 days per week in the office, willing to wait for candidate's bonus to be paid in Q1 before you join the team.

    Required skills:

    - Proven experience working with Python or other programming languages

    - Strong academic background

    Nice to have:

    - Prior knowledge of FX, Futures or Market Data

    - Kubernetes or Docker

    - AWS or Azure
