Our client is a major global IT company looking to add a member to the Sydney team. Reporting to the General Counsel for Australia, you will be supporting the business units with diverse transactions as well as managing a small team. Candidates will be/should have

  • Minimum 10 years PQE with ideally 5 years in private practice.
  • Graduate Degree in Law / Jurisprudence from recognized institution in a common law based law firm.
  • Admission a a legal practitioner in Australia
  • Experience in the Sydney market, particularly in the telecommunications sector.
  • Experience in litigation and/or property transactions a bonus.
  • Trained/qualified at a top tier, reputable corporate/commercial law firm
  • Excellent academic record and working references / credentials
  • Able to travel as needed
  • Experience in general ethics and compliance matters, familiarity with Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and European anti-corruption laws (or commitment to develop skills/knowledge in this area)
  • LLM or other post-graduate qualification

  • Procurement & Expenses SME

    My leading global investment banking organisation are looking to bring on a Procurement & Expenses SME to oversee the design of a global procurement approach for a major finance programme. This candidate is required to have hands-on experience of Fusion Configuration, this technical knowledge is required to deliver on approvals and configuration of feeder systems.

The Senior Legal Counsel will report to the Head Legal & Compliance, India. Our client is a very high profiled US global company. They would like to hire a mid-level corporate lawyer to be based in their Johannesburg office, with at least 4 years PQE. The legal counsel will handle legal, compliance and professional affairs matters primarily for the South Africa Market.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the review, drafting and negotiation of a variety of commercial contracts and other legal documents in.
  • Responsible for providing advice to consultants and corporate support functions on legal issues generally, including the legal/contractual implications of commercial business decisions and compliance related issues;
  • Analyse new and changing laws and regulations;
  • Identify liability exposure and provides creative solutions to manage and reduce risk;
  • Interacts with outside counsel
  • Assist with all matters related to legal support of the businesses, including compliance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate reorganizations;
  • Be the "Go To" lawyer and trusted adviser for all South Africa legal matters.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified lawyer with at least 4years PQE from an a large MNC and/or international law firm.
  • Strong contract review, drafting and negotiation skills in English.
  • Project management experience, including excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage a large number and variety of mission-critical projects, working independently and often in ambiguous environment
  • Transactional/corporate experience a must.
  • Outgoing and able to work independently with minimal supervision is key.
