Assistant Accountant – Financial Reporting
Strong written / verbal Mandarin required

Role Purpose

  • The Accountant, Financial Reporting plays a key role in enabling our client’s London branch to fulfill its financial and HO reporting requirements and will also have an opportunity to play a significant role in internal projects.
  • Working in a well-established team, your role will principally include the production of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports to Head Office and local internal reports to senior management.
  • You will have a requirement to undertake duties for more than one entity, to provide financial reporting and accounting services to Head Office and production of financial reports and general management information, including the:

  1. Maintenance of books & records for the bank’s London branch;
  2. Completion of balance sheet and P&L reconciliations; and
  3. Assisting and supporting the rest of finance team on ad-hoc reports or projects.



Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all Head Office reporting in Mandarin in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Build good relationships with HO Finance and communicate with HO teams weekly/monthly or as considered appropriate to better understand HO policies and requirements;
  • Co-ordinate the formulation of the HO and local business plans/budgets/strategy, and monitor progress towards the,, drawing attention to important trends, and to opportunities to maximize earnings and to minimize risk;
  • Co-ordinate with Head Office, and also locally in London with the Head of Finance and other Finance team members, on the formulation of key reports.
  • Work with the Head of Finance and Senior Financial Controller to enhance the quality and efficiency of the production of all financial reporting of the Bank’s London branch as necessary.
  • Prepare financial data and reports for business management when required by the management committees, the Board, and the Head Office.
  • Provide management information of a financial nature, and subsequent interpretation for effective business decision making
  • Complete quarter-end and year-end business forecasting as requested by HO or management;
  • Improve reporting, budgeting and forecasting process and procedures;
  • Forge good working relationships with relevant HO departments and other overseas institutions along with the different departments in the London branch
  • Where and when required, help monitor the capital adequacy, liquidity, large exposures and performance of all entities in London.
  • In conjunction with other business managers, ensure that adequate accounting records and internal controls are maintained
  • Liaise with the external auditors and assisting in preparing statutory and regulatory financial statements of the London branch.
  • Other ad hoc projects assigned by CEO, CFO or Head of Finance



Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Professional qualification in accounting/finance discipline
  • Experience working at a similar level, within accounting, banking or auditing fields, preferably in the financial services sector
  • An in-depth knowledge of accounting standards and theory, and financial management principles and techniques, including planning, forecasting and budgeting, and the ability to apply them effectively in banking environment
  • Proficiency for making financial evaluations and judgments and an ability to present recommendations, both oral and written
  • Excellent IT skills including MMS office and Excel
  • Ability to work in a flat structure and with different stake-holders within Finance and the Bank.

  • Equities Asset Management Java Lead - Director Level - £160k
    £130000 - £160000 per annum bonus

    Equities Asset Management Java Technical Lead – Director Level – up to £160k base

    A leading Asset/Wealth Manager based in London are continuing an aggressive expansion of their Equities Trading platform. Because of this expansion they require a hands on technical lead to manage and continue the growth of the London technology trading stack. The role will involve; core java development, design and architecture, code review and general day to day management duties.

  • C Quant/Strats Developer - Equities Trading - Associate/VP
    £70000 - £120000 per annum bonus

    C Quant/Strats Developer required - Associate/VP - Equities Trading - Business Reporting - £70k-£120k

    A market leading Quant/Strats team at a tier one investment bank require an exceptional C developer, ideally with some experience of Python to join their Equities Trading team. The team themselves work on the Equities Trading quantitative models and report dsirectly into the business. The role will provide the platform for a strong technologist and mathematician, to face off to Quants and Traders and work closely with them to implement cutting edge C models/solutions.

    This team require both exceptional technological skills (C on Windows) and mathematical/problem solving abilities (PhD in Mathematics or related subject highly desirable). Also a strong understanding of Derivative products, ideally Equities required.

    The succesful candidate can look to recieve between £70,000 and £120,000 base salary, either Associate or VP level (dependant on experience)

    This will also be backed by a bonus and package funded by the trading desk themselves.
