Big Data Platform Manager

£600 - £700 per day



We are looking for a big data platform engineer for a major investment bank in London. This is a Contract opportunity INSIDE IR35.

You will be responsible for:

§ Platform infrastructure design

§ Platform configuration and performance tuning for use cases

§ Monitoring of platform health

§ Planning capacity increase

§ Reporting on platform health, capacity and usage

Experience: MUST

· Conception of a data warehouse and the different layers to integrate and distribute the data.

· Knowledge of Big Data technologies (Hive, Drill, HBase, HDFS …) and Hadoop distributions, in particular, MapR

· Linux OS knowledge

· Knowledge of security and authentication topics on Big Data technologies

· Management of Hadoop cluster, with all included services

· Ability to solve any ongoing issues with operating the cluster

Highly Desirable

· Experience with Spark development optional.

· Experience with building stream-processing systems, using solutions such as Storm or Spark-Streaming.

· Experience with NoSQL databases, such as HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB.

· Experience with various messaging systems, such as Kafka.

Nice to have

· Experience working with ETL technologies using Ab Initio


§ Strong solution architecture experience in the delivery of IT projects § Strong data analytics / considerable data solution architecture experience in the delivery of large systems o 12+ years’ Experience in IT, at least 6 with BI and data systems o Deep technical knowledge of data analytics technologies o Deep technical knowledge of Big Data / Hadoop technologies, especially MapR o Experience working with ETL technologies o Knowledge of data management tools, e.g. Ab Initio, Callibra § Experience working in onshore/offshore delivery centres, including interaction with geographically distributed clients § Encourage continuous improvement, innovation and creativity § Facilitate problem-solving & collaboration § Ability to discover and analyse problems, and present solutions clearly and concisely § Excellent oral and written communication skills with the Ability to effectively present to the target audience.

  • Cloud Support Engineer (Dublin)
    £54217 - £90361 per annum + benefits + bonus

    We are working exclusively with one of the most revolutionary tech companies in Dublin today!

    They are scaling rapidly and looking for Cloud Support Engineers on a permanent basis.

    As a Cloud Engineer, You will be supporting channel availability on a 24x7 basis for the cloud-native technology platform for one of their dedicated lines of business.

    As this is a Cloud Support Engineer position, day to day, you will be expected to -

    • Supporting the platform on a day to day basis

    • Supporting change development and delivery through the CI/CD pipeline

    The company are expanding their cloud division and looking for DevOps Engineers to be part of their journey.

    As a DevOps Engineer, You will design and build cutting-edge infrastructure, cloud-based software products running on AWS (Amazon Web Services). You will also need knowledge of Kubernetes and Terraform.

    The responsibilities

    • building and setting up new development tools and AWS infrastructure.
    • understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to developers.
    • working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes.
    • testing and examining code written by others and analysing results.
    • Work closely with key stakeholders to capture, analyze, and derive DevOps requirements
    • Implement and stay abreast of Cloud and DevOps industry best practices and tooling

    • AWS cloud experience (Amazon Web Services) - Lambda, EC2, RDS, S3, Redshift, VPC, IAM etc

    • Infrastructure as Code - Terraform, CloudFormation

    • Any certificates in AWS (AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator)
