Business Intelligence Developer - Microsoft Stack

£45000 - £60000 per annum

The successful candidate would be developing controlled and defined data sets to deliver data from the new UK Data Warehouse. The role includes developing new reports, specifying report improvements and conducting further ad-hoc analysis and liaising with core development.

The BI Developer will also have access to a sandbox area that enables rapid tactical analysis and integration of ad-hoc business data sources for one-off pieces of investigation. Any ongoing requirements identified are captured and fed in to the federated teams prioritised backlog to be migrated into core architecture and once assured, then become a trusted information source. Where more enhanced technical analysis skills or tools are required, this is delivered as part of the federated team.

The BI Developer will be expected to work closely with both BI Analysts within UKTD and other functions, as well as supporting core build demands. They will be expected to have a solid understanding of development techniques such as the full development life-cycle, using source control, TFS and Agile.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop solutions using the full Microsoft Stack (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, T-SQL) to extend the information supply from the UK Data Warehouse.
  • Translate business needs to technical specifications
  • Design, build and deploy BI solutions (e.g. reporting tools)
  • Maintain and support data analytics platforms
  • Create tools to store data (e.g. OLAP cubes, data marts and analytic frameworks)
  • Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting
  • Evaluate and improve existing BI systems
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate systems
  • Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses
  • Create visualizations and reports for requested projects
  • Develop and update technical documentation

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong knowledge/experience in Microsoft Stack (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, T-SQL)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)

  • Ability to negotiate across stakeholders to ensure the MVP Objectives of each work package are achieved
  • Business driven to achieve Business Objectives within the Programme constraints of time and cost
