Financial Reporting Manager
Job Purpose
This role sits within the client’s UK Finance team which is responsible for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the legal entity books and records for the UK businesses - Non FM, primarily Lending, Transaction Banking and Corporate Finance products. The focus will be on Loans, Deposits, Contingents, Interest and Impairments across all businesses for IFRS reporting.
The candidate will be responsible for

  • Ensuring an effective system of internal financial controls are in place to control the UK Business - Non FM.
  • Ensuring financial/fiduciary reporting obligations are met on time and to a high quality
  • Applying Group accounting policies, standards, procedures and internal control practices across the main UK entity


Operational Controls Management

  • Ensure necessary financial processes and controls are in place to ensure reporting of revenue, cost and balance-sheet is timely and accurate for Loans, Deposits, Contingents and Interest booked in the UK using UK general ledgers as the primary source
  • Ensure full reconciliation between management, financial and statutory reporting packs
  • Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and practices, Group Accounting Manual and other regulatory accounting guidelines.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining a standardised financial reporting structure in the UK.
  • Challenging current practices and procedures and developing and implementing effective changes.


Analytical Review

  • Ability to explain movements in financial balances clearly and succinctly demonstrating an understanding of the underlying UK unit function.
  • Be able to track major transactions through the TPs to the G/L


Key Qualifications/Experience Required

  • Degree level education or equivalent
  • Qualified accountant
  • Proven ability in financial and management accounting
  • Current theoretical and practical knowledge of IFRS and its implications on reporting
  • Experience and ability in managing staff both locally and remotely is desirable but not essential
  • Practical experience with reporting systems and tools is desirable but not essential
  • A self-starter and creative thinker with the ability to set and manage their own agenda with the overall UK Country Finance Agenda
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to drive change effectively with staff of all levels

    Python Software Engineer, VP (Cross Training Considered) - Greenfield Risk Engine - Tier 1 Investment Bank - up to £130k plus bonus

    An experienced Python software engineer, VP, is required to join a market leading tier one investment bank in London. This role reports into the Senior Reporting Manager and will require a strong financial control professional with a relevant accounting qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) who has prior experience of the Financial Services process improvement.

Key Duties:

Financial Accounting

Product Control Equities Lead

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that Product Control provides a high level of service to the business, without compromise of Product Control’s independence or commitment to an adequate control environment;
  • Maintain an overview of the global control environment as it relates to the Equities business; identify, communicate and drive resolution of issues, whether people, process or system. Obtain support from the business and drive necessary change initiatives, in conjunction with Finance Change Management and Global Functional Leads. Represent PC at Global Equities BCCs. Liaise with Internal/External audit and regulators as necessary;
  • Ensure that Product Control understands business plans, and has in place any necessary initiatives required to support them. Ensure that Product Control strategic plans are appropriate for and suitably adapted to the Equities business, and that Equities business is prioritised appropriately. Ensure that business is familiar with, and supportive of, both the PC change programme and wider GBM Finance change programme. Ensure that Fixed Income PC also understands the impact of change initiatives originating from other functions (eg. Global Finance Change Program, Operations, Market Risk) and can facilitate, and where possible benefit from, such change;
  • Ensure consistency in global Product Control approach where consistency is expected (eg. application of accounting policies, fair value adjustment methodology), and drive towards consistency where this is desirable (eg. consistent tools);
  • Ensure that Product Control operates effectively across location, particularly where traders in one location trade on the balance sheet of another;
  • Ensure adequate MI is developed and provided to business, Global Head of PC, and other parties (eg. Operational Risk) to demonstrate status of control environment, performance of PC;
