The Role
Compliance Assurance and Monitoring provides the firm with a key independent second line control check and challenge over the implementation and application of the regulations and controls that apply to a firm. This role is responsible for working with the Head of Monitoring and Surveillance to develop and deliver an appropriate risk - based monitoring program consisting of appropriate thematic reviews designed to test the efficacy of front-line controls in respect of regulations applicable to the business. This is to ensure that controls in place and are sufficient to ensure that the firm meets its regulatory obligations.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out risk-based thematic desk reviews across the firm’s business units.
  • Focus on the key compliance risks and take a proportionate approach to scoping tests and completing testing efficiently to make the best use of available resources.
  • Coordinate the investigation and escalation of potential issues and documenting appropriate remedial Actions. Manage closure verification of Actions following completion, including the assessment of evidence to support closure.
  • Oversee and support reviews completed by other team members.

  • Support the Head of Financial Security Compliance in providing guidance, advice and challenge to the Business.

  • The Compliance Manager will work as part of the Compliance monitoring team undertaking monitoring functions, management information reporting and some advisory support.


Skills Required

  • Contribute to the creation, implementation and delivery of a comprehensive risk based Compliance Monitoring Programme (CMP). The CMP covers all FCA/PRA regulated firms within and aims to reflect all relevant regulatory requirements impacting these businesses.
  • Identify regulatory issues and risks while carrying out effective surveillance and monitoring reviews within the deadlines set. Ensure mitigating actions assigned within the reviews are completed within the agreed timescales.

The role:

The Financial Security Compliance Officer role will form part of the UK Compliance Department and will report directly to the Head of Financial Security Compliance. However, the Financial Security Compliance Officer will have his/her day to day work allocated to them and checked by the Senior Financial Security Compliance Officer who will also report to the Head of Financial Security Compliance.

Key Deliverables:

  • Support the Senior Financial Security Compliance Officer and the Head of Financial Security in providing guidance, advice and challenge to the Business on the application of Compliance Policies, Procedures and processes in relation to Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing, Sanctions and Embargoes matters.
  • Support the Senior Financial Security Compliance Officer in providing a prompt and complete response in relation to all enquiries that come into the UK Compliance email inbox as well as telephone or face to face enquiries These enquiries will in particular relate to Client Acceptance Committee (CAC) forms, PEP escalations and Major Sanctioned Country alerts as well as customer and transaction screening alerts.
  • Provide the Business with guidance, advice and challenge around estate agency specific transactions and KYC issues, in particular where they involve joint agents, sub agents, intermediaries and partners.

About the role:


One of our core priorities across all parts of the business is delivering an excellent experience every time to every customer, internal and external. Our service style is being easy, reliable and empathetic – which you will make a central part of your role.

In particular:

  • You will have responsibility for the oversight and administration of the Group’s boards and committees. This will include arranging meetings and AGMs, preparing agendas, collating and circulating papers, taking minutes and monitoring follow up actions.
  • You will have a great eye for detail and will be adept at proof-reading and checking papers and documents.
  • In addition, you will maintain Board and committee records, including papers, minutes and other documents.
  • You will act as a point of contact for enquiries about corporate governance and support the administration of incoming communications to the team.
  • You will work collaboratively with teams across the business and will develop proactive and positive working relationships to assist in the smooth function of governance administration services.
  • You will be a good communicator and team player at all levels, with the appropriate level of gravitas to discharge the function, and proactively assume responsibility for additional tasks, in line with the changing workloads and priorities of the department.
  • As some meetings will be scheduled outside of normal office hours, you will be flexible in your working times and approach.



About you:


Your fit for this role will be evidenced by your previous governance experience and career to date. Although knowledge of the social housing sector would be desirable, it may be that you bring with you transferable skills from other sectors.
Our ‘must haves’ are:

  • A track record in governance
  • The capacity to work under pressure, with the ability to respond promptly and proactively
  • Good communication skills, evidencing gravitas and diplomacy
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Attention to detail and high levels of literacy.
  • A team player
  • IT skills, with proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Word, Adobe / NitroPro and PowerPoint; and a flexible approach to working
  • You’ll deliver easy, reliable, empathetic service to your internal and external customers, by seeking to understand fully your customers’ needs, identifying and working to remove pain points, and always doing what you say you will
  • Knowledge of Blueprint or equivalent software is desirable, but not essential.
