The Business

Mcgregor Boyall is partnered with a leading regional bank with a strong international presence and are now looking for an individual to join as Head of Compliance. There will be a strong focus on international regulatory compliance, covering multiple jurisdictions.

The Role

Reporting into the Chief Compliance Officer for the bank you will be a senior member of the organisation, fully responsible for the Banks’s international jurisdictions with each of the country MRLO’s reporting into you. This will require high levels of communication and excellent understanding of compliance regulations across multiple jurisdictions. The overall purpose of the position is to implement recommendations made by the various international bodies, ensuring compliance/AML/KYC/CFT polices are adhered to. Responsibilities will involve obtaining regulatory approvals, manage inspections, monitoring potential action, interacting and maintain relationships with correspondent banks.

The Requirements

  • It is essential for this role that you have in-depth knowledge of up to date Compliance rules and regulations and ideally have had experience across multiple regulators (either in UK/Europe, Asia-Pac or US).
  • You need to have a minimum of 10-15 years overall banking experience, with sound understanding of banking products & operations, including Trade Finance, Correspondent Banking and International Payments and Settlement, with at least 5 years of Compliance experience at a Managerial level.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Global Regulatory Environment with some previous/current experience in an international bank. In-depth knowledge of KYC/AML/Sanction/Embargo and in driving a ‘best in class compliance culture’ across the organisation is required.
  • Previous experience of working across/covering multiple jurisdictions is strongly preferred as is proven experience in managing a team of 10 direct reports.

You will be responsible for supporting development, launch and management of

  • Transaction Monitoring and Screening Program
  • KYC and due diligence
  • Investigate, identify and develop transaction monitoring
  • Design and execute reports to measure success and performance of initiatives
  • Drive internal controls design and monitoring to support Compliance Operational policy and procedures
  • Partner with Compliance, Legal, Engineering, Product, Strategy, and BD to achieve results for team and the Compliance department
  • Continually identify, redefine and execute solutions for KYC needs across systems, teams, policies and processes
  • Designs and execute reports to measure success and performance of AML Compliance initiatives, program, operations, critical metrics and KRIs
  • Remain up-to-date on regulatory changes and landscape, best practices and cutting-edge developments

Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of experience in a payment services firm or financial services with exposure to payments
  • MLRO responsibilities either past or current required
  • Experience working in a start up, fintech or consulting firm.
  • Familiarity with AML regulations globally
  • Certification in compliance related area
  • Knowledge in core AML products, money laundering and terrorism typology, segmentation, scenarios, models, methodology, and AML tools
  • Experience with Transaction Monitoring, Screening, Financial Investigations or similar discipline
  • Currently based in the UAE
