Knowledge and experience requirements

Principal Infrastructure Engineer

Essential:
  • Between 6-10 years’ experience applying the engineering skill in a commercial environment
  • 5-10 years Sysadmin, proven experience in in delivery or experienced 3rd line Support
  • 3-5 years of Virtualisation experience (VMware, HyperV, XenServer, Containers, Serverless)
  • Experience of designing infrastructure solutions in a hybrid environment, i.e. traditional data centres and Cloud services (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
  • Infrastructure Automation and configuration management
  • Scripting (JSON, Powershell, Bash, YAML)
  • Experience of working within a DevOps/Agile environment
  • Responsible for the quality outcome in the engineering discipline
  • Considered an expert for their skill
  • Spends a non-trivial amount of time mentoring and coaching Engineers and associate Engineers
  • Responsible for the Community of Practice for their engineering skill
  • Leads and takes responsibility for architecture and process improvement


Desirable:
  • Experience of managing engineering teams of all levels
  • Managing enterprise Storage technology
  • Proven experience of working within a DevOps/Agile environment
  • Experience of managing business critical applications in the cloud

You will be working on a multi year digital programme that will involve you performing Business Process Reengineering activities to contribute to the optimisation of processes.

Windows Infrastructure Support Engineer- Field Based

We are looking to recruit an experienced field based Windows Infrastructure Engineer. This is a broad role in which you will be working on a broad range of IT infrastructure and desk top incidents that require an engineer on site. This can range from the installation of Servers, laptops, network devices including Switches, Routers and Firewalls. Equally you could be trouble shooting incidents both independently or with the support of office based 3rd and 4th line engineers.
To be a success in this role you will need at least a 2nd line capability in the Windows Stack of Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange and be familiar with working on a virtualised infrastructure ideally using Hyper V and or VMWare.
