An Internal Audit position with one of our Financial Services clients, based in Canary Wharf.

The client is a clearing house with a global presence who are looking to double the size of their audit team due to the natural growth of the business. This role will be focused on execution and will work both independently and within a team to complete a broad range of audits.

This would be a great opportunity for someone looking to develop a generalist Internal Audit skillset.

Duties

  • Highlight risk & control issues to the business
  • Ensure Audit planning and testing is carried out correctly, including formulating test strategies/test papers
  • Audit reporting for senior management
  • Ensure the business follow recommendations through to their conclusion
  • Consistently look to implement best practice + drive process improvement
  • Build robust relationships with stakeholders across the group

Candidate Specification

  • Adaptability + the ability to work in a fluid environment
  • Financial Services experience (Ideally)
  • 5+ years' experience of Internal Audit
  • Strong analytical skills.

Internal Auditor Banking

£60000 - £70000 per annum

Responsibility

  • Carry out risk based audits across the business and other projects as assigned by senior management, to provide assurance that material risks faced by the bank are being adequately managed;
  • Execute and help to develop the London branch Internal audit plan;
  • Support the continual development of the internal audit methodology;
  • Audit various business areas of the bank in in line with strategic instructions;
  • Assess, identify and report any issues of weakness within control and devise remediating solutions for any issues found;
  • Work alongside internal departments to analyse issues and formulate resolutions
  • Ensure our internal audit process and reports are aligned with local regulations and Head Office’s requirements;
  • Other Ad hoc duties as required


Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher;
  • Minimum 2 years internal audit / internal audit experience gained within banking environment, ideally within international branch;
  • Exposure to wholesale and corporate banking activities;
  • Good report writing and communication skills;
  • Demonstrable good understand of audit and up-to-date technical knowledge;


The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate for this role will have the following exposure:

  • CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIA qualified preferred, or working towards these qualifications;
  • Working experience in top auditing firm viewed favourably but not essential;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Job Description:


Participates in integrated audits and leads execution of the audit process (primarily as engagement supervisor), in accordance with Internal Audit policy. This includes assisting the auditor-in-charge with the development of the audit scope, approving test plans and communication of audit results with clients. Also responsible for managing multiple key strategic initiatives both in an execution and project manager capacity. Please be aware that due to the upcoming changes in Contractor legislation, this role will fall within IR35.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads integrated audit projects as directed, primarily as the engagement supervisor.
  • Supervises multiple concurrent projects which are generally large in size and high in complexity.
  • Oversees portfolio of projects for high risk initiatives associated with issue remediation.
  • Responsible for developing a comprehensive and consist risk assessment methodology in alignment with Internal Audit policy.
  • Identifies and assesses risk and controls and assists with the design of control testing approach across lines of business.
  • Develops proposed scope of engagements with the auditor-in-charge.
  • Monitors progress of open corrective actions as assigned and ensures that root causes are addressed through follow-up with testing and verification.
  • Demonstrates professional scepticism. Presents audit results in an objective and unbiased manner.
  • Writes opinions reflecting relevant facts that lead to logical conclusions. Escalates significant risks and loss exposures to appropriate levels of management.



Skills/Experience:

  • Proven audit and management experience, particularly with large/complex regulatory projects.
  • Proven project management and risk assessment development experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrates recent career progression in Audit, Risk Management, or related field.
  • Degree or advanced degree in accounting, business, or related subject.
  • Active Certification in relevant certification program (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, IIA, CIA, CISA, etc.)
  • Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple and sometimes competing priorities.
  • Well-developed analytical, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Financial Services experience.

  • To be a key part of Assurance teams undertaking assignments, including opportunities to lead the on-site element of the work.
  • To ensure that each assignment is undertaken in accordance with the pre-assignment instructions, and to carry out all aspects of the assignment efficiently, thoroughly and in accordance with the firm’s procedures.
