Lead Java Developer

McGregor Boyall has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Java Developer to join a growing financial services organization at the forefront of technology innovation on a permanent basis. This institution is renowned worldwide and known in the local market for their extremely high caliber of technical teams.

You will join a global team which is responsible for the maintenance, expansion and extension of a key business system used across global markets. They are a highly Agile team working with technologies including Java 8, Spring Boot, Cassandra, MongoDb, GraphQL, Angular and AWS and taking a Test Driven Development approach to their development.

You will lead a Sprint team, providing technical direction and design input as well as mentoring and supporting more junior members in the team as they learn and progress. You will get involved with hands-on coding and development.

Experience Required:

  • Proven commercial experience of core Java Development – Java 8+
  • Spring Boot microservices
  • Messaging frameworks
  • Cassandra, MongoDB
  • GraphQL
  • Test Driven Development (TDD)

    A Senior Tester is required for a major London investment business - You'll bring your expertise to a team who are at the centre of implementing technology change; improving and enhancing capabilities to better serve our clients. You will have the autonomy to influence existing and establish new processes, while being supported by various experienced and collaborative teams. This would suit a senior tester or test lead looking to take the next step in their career.


    The Role:

    • Lead and shape the way Vanguard carry out testing with 3rd party partners
    • Collaborate with internal Vanguard IT teams who rely on integration with 3rd party systems, to ensure a consistent (documented) approach across all projects
    • Carry out testing of 3rd party releases, and support others to do the same – including User Acceptance Testing
    • Retain oversight of 3rd party testing and collaborate with them to increase accountability and make efficiencies
    • Support product owners and their teams with a broad and deep business knowledge to improve quality from the earliest
    • Develop and document quality assurance standards, including test strategies and plans. Recognise and identify areas where policies and procedures need to be changed or developed
    • Continually drive improvement and provide supporting metrics to stakeholders to demonstrate progress


    Requirements:

    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a test role
    • Financial services experience – in particular, wrap products (pension (SIPP), ISA and general account) desirable
    • Test lead experience preferred – but with the ability to remain hands on
    • Experience of both waterfall and agile delivery would be an advantage, as this role has exposure to both
    • 3rd party supplier experience, ideally with heavy integration
    • Ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical partners

    My banking client is looking to secure a new operational risk partner to join their Operational risk department. The banks operational risk department is accountable for supporting the management of Operational and conduct risk within the bank. Providing guidance, support and assurance to senior management.

    The role itself involves:

    • The role itself is to ensure that the company has a comprehensive and accurate view of its risks.
    • Providing guidance, support and assurance to senior management.
    • The operational risk partner works within a growing and experienced risk management team who is accountable for ensuring a high quality analysis, advice and guidance on the management of operational and conduct risk.
    • To provide operations with quality support in their management of all operational and conduct related risks through implementation and embedding of the different risk management processes and initiatives

    The ideal candidate should have these key skills:

    • Keeping colleagues informed with new procedures for incident reporting and to help them in their ongoing management of incidents that have occurred.
    • Providing support to departments that are in the process of dealing with incidents by ensuring the right procedures are being taken.
    • Carrying out risk and self-assessments (RSCA) with different business functions.
    • Reviewing and overlooking action plans to fill gaps identified from either risk management activities.

  • Senior Java Developer Digital Retail Banking
    £95000 - £105000 per annum + + 15% Pension + Bens

    European retail banking firm seeks a Java Developer for a permanent position paying up to £105,000 within the firms highly agile Java development team based in London.

    The team is responsible for the development of the Core Banking Digital Platforms including Risk, Payments, Lending and Customer Data. They are in the process of expansion and require an additional Java Developer providing expertise in the full software development lifecycle with an emphasis using the latest Java technology stacks.

    • Demonstrate excellent use of Design Patterns / Micro Services/ RESTful APIs
    • Basic capability in UI Development using advanced JavaScript (React and Node.js preferred) HTML, CSS
    • Working in a Technical Agile environment (e.g. Build tools, Static/Dynamic code analysis, CI/CD e.g. Jenkins/TeamCity).
