Role requirements

Experience and technical skills

The employee will be able to demonstrate the following experience and technical skills:

  • previous experience in previous experience gained in a role that demonstrates commercial acumen and the application of logical judgement. This could come from financial services, infrastructure, project management, commerce and industry or the public sector;
  • significant experience in design and creation of compliance assurance and monitoring plans
  • previous experience of successfully leading analytical projects through to conclusion, including influencing senior people through reasoned argument in order to achieve consensus on complex issues;
  • experience of delivering high-quality analysis, gaining insight from that analysis and using this to form evidence-based conclusions and recommendations;
  • previous experience and good technical drafting and policy writing skills.

Personal attributes required

The role will require someone with the following personal attributes:

  • a demonstrable interest in compliance assurance planning and methodologies;
  • excellent analytical skills;
  • organisational and time management skills including the ability to manage and prioritise conflicting workloads;
  • good communication, listening and questioning skills;
  • attention to detail and an appreciation and commitment to the maintenance of accurate, accessible and organised documentation.

Education, qualification and professional membership requirements

  • A first degree in an analytical subject at 2:1 or above, or equivalent work experience, is preferable

McGregor Boyall are working with one of the largest/prestigious Media companies within the UK who are urgently looking for a FP&A Analyst (Financial planning and analysis) to help provide robust sales and analysis to finance teams and business managers across the organisation.

  • Length: Initial 3-month contract (with a view to extend due to high demand)
  • Daily Rate: £300 - £375 a day
  • Working status: Inside of IR35
  • Client: Working for a prestigious Media Company
  • Location: Central London

Your day to day:

  • Support FP&A Manager, Head of Commercial Finance and the business in all aspects of the annual budget, forecast and long-term planning processes, including consolidation and analysis of regional plans and developing P&L, balance sheet and cash forecasts where required
  • Interpret financial information and analysis, supporting effective management decisions using benchmarking, trends and other planning and forecasting methods; develop and implement improvements to the planning processes
  • Support the FP&A Manager to produce ad hoc and routine analysis to a high standard, including recommendations and understanding of business objectives
  • Identify opportunities for analysis, delivering to the Head of Commercial Finance and FP&A Manager when requested, to support decision-making
  • Identify and implement process improvements and best practice ways of working across the FP&A team and finance function

Must haves:

  • Worked within the Media / Broadcasting space
  • FP&A experience
  • Preferably qualified (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, or similar) or with proven experience as an Analyst or Management Accountant in a commercial business environment
