About the Role

The Windows SME primary focus is being responsible for improvement of the company's operational infrastructure. This is a technical specialist role focusing on Problem Management & Action resolution, Capacity Management, Vendor Management, Licencing, Audit, Asset Management as well as process improvement and correct tooling.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Expert in their specialist area provides mentoring and guidance to the operational and delivery teams when required.

Problem Management & Root Cause Analysis

  • Act as the Technical specialist to guarantee problem resolutions.
  • Owner of processes for any Windows related P1 and P2 incidents to review and improve
  • Coordinate with all infrastructure teams as a majority of problem improvement involves technical and process changes.

Audit & Risk

  • Owner of all Windows related audit actions and progress to be KPI driven and reviewed on a regular basis.
  • Be the technical contact for any planned Audit or Pen test.
  • Produce infrastructure build compliance and security templates.
  • Define, Review and test plans for all infrastructure areas including Identify and Test major components once per year Identify failover risks including capacity for supporting concurrent users and services.

Vendor Management

Asset Management

  • Support the Design manager in the creation of Hardware and Software version roadmaps.
  • Operations to implement a regular upgrade path.
  • Ensure all assets are managed through their lifecycle
  • Ensure all installed software is in compliance with licence agreements.

Capacity Management

  • Define & implement Proactive Capacity planning, tracked and KPIs' reported on
  • Define Threshold's and implement proactive alerting including the Implementation of Predictive analysis - growth / decrease in infrastructure
  • Explain Root cause for all growth and decreases.

Licencing Management

Tooling and Automation

  • Technical owner of tooling for specialist area including production of functional requirements from all Operational teams.
  • Help Consolidate number of tools leveraging functionality and reducing cost.
  • Identify repetitive manual tasks / requests throughout infrastructure.
  • Implement Automated backup, Inventory, config management

Technical Skills & Requirements

(Essential) Proven experience of:

  • Design, build and supporting Windows servers.
  • Deployment of physical and virtual via VMware, HP and Cisco UCS Server hardware.
  • Microsoft Windows 2008 & 2012.
  • VMware vCenter, Cisco UCS Manager/Central, Active Directory, SCCM, SCOM, Windows Clustering and Windows Security.
  • Defining standard builds in Microsoft SCCM, VM templates in vCenter and Service Profiles in UCS Manager/Central to build servers on VMware, HP & UCS and ESXi hosts.
  • Proposing hardware and operating system configurations to meet design specifications.

Desirable

  • Configuration of server backups using CommVault Simpana.
  • Experience of automation tools like Microsoft System Center Orchestrator.
  • Experience of Kerberos in regards to securing Windows applications and AD integration.
  • Experience of working within the ITIL framework
  • Working in a "DEVOPS" Style organisational model

    Experience with both multi-threaded core java and low latency systems is highly desirable, as well as a sound understanding of big data technology (hadoop or similar). The team are undergoing expansion because of the re-architecture and as a result have recieved huge investment in London.

    This role will provide the opportunity for a strong technologist to gain exposure to the finance industry and if they please interact with Traders, Quants and other senior business stakeholders within a fast paced diversely challenging environment.

    The succesful Java/Hadoop Developer can look to recieve between £70,000 and £100,000 base salary, plus package and bonus.

  • C Quant/Strats Developer - Equities Trading - Associate/VP
    £70000 - £120000 per annum bonus

    C Quant/Strats Developer required - Associate/VP - Equities Trading - Business Reporting - £70k-£120k

    A market leading Quant/Strats team at a tier one investment bank require an exceptional C developer, ideally with some experience of Python to join their Equities Trading team. The team themselves work on the Equities Trading quantitative models and report dsirectly into the business. The role will provide the platform for a strong technologist and mathematician, to face off to Quants and Traders and work closely with them to implement cutting edge C models/solutions.

    This team require both exceptional technological skills (C on Windows) and mathematical/problem solving abilities (PhD in Mathematics or related subject highly desirable). Also a strong understanding of Derivative products, ideally Equities required.

    The succesful candidate can look to recieve between £70,000 and £120,000 base salary, either Associate or VP level (dependant on experience)

    This will also be backed by a bonus and package funded by the trading desk themselves.

    • Strong OO programming background
    • Derivative product knowledge (ideally Equities)
    • Strong mathematical/problem solving ability (ideally PhD level maths or similar)

  • Java Equites Algo Trading (Business Reporting) - VP/Director
    £100000 - £150000 per annum bonus

    Java Equites Algo Trading (Business Reporting) – VP/Director - £100k-£150k base

    Multiple exceptional java technologists are required to join an expanding Equities Algo Trading team within a leading tier one investment bank in London. This is a business reporting team that will be heavily funded in order to aggressively expand in order to become as profitable as possible.

    From a technical perspective the team are focussed on creating ultra low latency algorithmic trading solutions, partnering directly with traders, quants and sales teams. The systems are primarily core java with KDB databases and some python layers. Projects are created, produced and released within short cycles given the strong backing from the desk.

    They are looking for the most elite technologists on the market and are therefore open to hiring VP’s and Director level candidates.

    The successful candidate can look to receive between £100k and £150k base, plus a healthy package and bonus.

    Requirements:

    • Core Java multi-threaded systems development
    • Low Latency environment exposure
    • Python and database skills highly desirable
    • Strong communication skills
    • Equities business knowledge highly desirable, other asset classes may be sufficient
    • Strong academic profile (ideally computer science or maths)
