Head of Legal - Regulated Loans & Overdrafts

Our client, a leading global bank, is seeking a Legal Counsel Lawyer to join their Regulated and Unregulated Lending Legal Team at VP level. The institution is a highly established organisation based in London.

This role will be responsible for providing legal expertise and knowledge to all areas within the organisations current and future lending product offerings. They will be required to support various departments including Retail, Premier, Wealth and Business Banking, and provide specialist regulated lending advice on an international scale. The main areas you will be advising on are Loans, Overdrafts, Credit Cards, Mortgages and any other forms of credit, both secured and unsecured.

The individual will be considered a trusted advisor, dealing with senior business stakeholders to provide an end to end advisory process within financial services, focussing on compliance with applicable legislation including Consumer Credit Act 1974 and Financial Services & Markets Act 2000, CONC, and general Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Accountability

  • Maintain clear and up to date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations and policies
  • Work with the Regulated Lending Legal Forum and support the team horizon scanning process
  • Report into the Head of Legal, Regulated Loans & Overdrafts and present him or another member of senior management with any material legal and non-legal risks and problems.
  • Be responsible for the assessment of training and seeking key opportunities for training.
  • Provide high quality legal advice independently and sometimes take a supervision role.

Minimum Experience and Knowledge

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister with 4-10 years PQE
  • Experience and specialism working in Consumer credit law and regulation, consumer credit law and regulation, consumer protection law, FCA policy and regulation of financial services,
  • A background of working within Financial services/retail banking/payments law/regulated mortgage contracts/ non-regulated lending is preferred.
  • Experience with working across teams and locations
  • Trained and have practiced within non-contentious regulation of a magic circle law firm or similar.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to deal with demanding client base and working proactively and independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills for meeting tight deadlines and assimilating complex legal and regulatory material

    Information Security Project Manager

    Our financial services client has established an Information Security Programme to assess and evaluate threats and to enhance their considerable capabilities, to ensure that they are always at the forefront of Information Security.

    Responsibilities:

    • Create credible plans that set out required outputs, tasks and resources to achieve the project’s objectives
    • Reporting to the Programme Manager, you will work key stakeholders and subject matter experts to deliver multiple concurrent technology projects to meet security objectives as set out in their information security roadmap
    • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their requirements, promote the work of the project and ensure the project receives adequate support
    • Coordinate third party suppliers to ensure the project receives the required outputs in line with the schedule

  • Procurement & Expenses SME
    £500 - £525 per day

    My leading global investment banking organisation are looking to bring on a Procurement & Expenses SME to oversee the design of a global procurement approach for a major finance programme. This candidate is required to have hands-on experience of Fusion Configuration, this technical knowledge is required to deliver on approvals and configuration of feeder systems.

    This SME will be tasked with:

    • Providing P2P SME knowledge and input to the Programme Leadership and Senior Stakeholders
    • Ensuring Global Procurement Design alignment, understand and challenge any changes to global procurement design to ensure change is for regulatory/tax reasons only
    • Act as the Point of Contact (POC) for the Core Solution team to review Solution design (global template), Design variations, CR requests & Design Authority

    Candidates must have:

    • Extensive proven hands on experience of working with Oracle P2P modules (or other ERP systems), preferably Oracle Fusion
    • Proven experience delivering Global Procurement Transformation projects
    • Proven experience and Strong understanding of procurement processes – particularly P2P
    • Strong understanding of Accounts Payable (AP) processes or experience working with AP teams
    • Good understanding of 3rd party contracts and the management of 3rd party relationships
    • Experience working with Supplier / Vendor Relationship Management teams and other Procurement teams
    • Ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative data
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint
    • Ability to use process mapping tools e.g. Visio
