Technology Testing Specialist – London

Hybrid working (1 day per week in the office)

A major financial services provider at the centre of the global FX ecosystem is looking for a Technology Testing Specialist to join their team in London. This role offers a highly competitive compensation package including up to £15,000 performance bonus.

The role will involve the testing of controls and quality control activity across the Technology division. This will include the opportunity to contribute to the development of the testing strategy and plan and include working with the other Testing Specialists on larger testing assignments. It will also include reporting on testing activity, and results to stakeholder and maintaining relationships within Technology and with other divisions including Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance.

  • Contribute to the development of the testing strategy and methodology.
  • Support the delivery of the quality control framework.
  • Consistently deliver assigned components of the testing plan and quality control framework.
  • Contribute to the close-out and reporting on testing results.
  • Contribute to the report on testing progress, testing control themes and remediation progress.
  • Escalate any testing concerns to the Testing Lead.
  • Deliver assigned aspects of the quality control framework.
  • Contribute to the report on the results of quality control activity and themes.
  • Engage with the wider Risk and Controls team to support continuous improvement activity.
  • Demonstrate strategic mindset and broad perspective. Able to see the big-picture, and link individual activities to the wider landscape.
  • Be a catalyst for change, driving and cultivating innovative. Challenge the status quo to drive ‘out of the box’ thinking to solve complex problems.

Experience / essential and desired for successful job performance


Experience of delivering controls assurance testing ideally across more than 1 line of defence.
Experience in one of more of the following:

  • Risk management
  • Internal Audit
  • Compliance

Knowledge of Financial Services or another highly regulated industry sector is essential.
Knowledge of Technology delivery within Financial Services, and able to demonstrate an understanding of key challenges and risks which must be mitigated and managed to deliver successfully.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to build effective working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders, with the ability to adapt and flex communication style to suit the audience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that are tailored to be effective and meaningful at all levels of audience, including the ability to communicate complex problems in an easy-to-understand manner. A formal communication style with the regulators is key.
  • Highly proficient IT skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF
  • Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges
  • Relevant experience gained within financial services, banking, or similar environments beneficial
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and anticipating where possible.
  • Strong communicator – be able to demonstrate the experience and ability to communicate clearly at all levels within a business, with senior sponsors and stakeholders, and with regulators. Able to communicate complex problems in simple language to ensure wide understanding.
  • Organization and planning – able to quickly identify deliverables required and establish and manage a timeline for achieving the deliverables, with input from multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Constructive Relationship Management – gets to the heart of the issues with a presence and gravitas and clarity of presentation across all forms of communication.

    SQL Server Developer required to help deliver a project with an Edinburgh-based Financial Services client. You will work as part of the SQL Server development team on the end to end development of new and existing data feeds, data processes, data layers and reporting. You will have most of the following:

    • Querying SQL Server databases (preferred), or any other relational databases (e.g. TeraData, Oracle etc)

    Looking for a BAPM to work on an eRates electronic trading platform which underpins the electronic rates activity including pricing, hedging and execution.

    Candidates should have:

    • Experience as a business analyst / project manager in a financial services organisation
    • Strong knowledge of fixed income instruments, and associated trading workflows: Government Bonds, Interest Swaps, Repos, Futures and options
