Market Risk Java Developer
American investment banking firm seeks a Java Developer for a 12+ month contract paying up to £1100 p/d, within their Market Risk team based in London.
The role will be responsible for creating a next gen Data Fabric that will bring together data sources for the Markets Risk team and enable industry-leading analytics, supervisory reporting, client reporting, regulatory, surveillance, and data science solutions.
The role of the Big Data Dev Lead Involves being part of a dynamic team and contributing towards the development of product rollout, software development and applicationdata migrations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Java, Big Data and Spark platforms.
Qualifications:
- Experience in Core Java version 8-17
- Experience of 10+ years in developing, defining and delivering data and analytics solutions
- Java Server side development working in Low latency applications
- Multi-Threading
- Python experience an advantage or ability to pick this up
- Apache Spark
- In-memory databases
- SQL
- Linux
- Kafka
- Hadoop Ecosystem (HDFS, Impala, HIVE, HBASE, etc.)
- Data Modelling and Data Architecture (e.g. Lamda / Kappa)
- Experience in Data technologies including strong database knowledge
- Experience working with real time systems with high volumes
- Knowledge of Front office trading (esp. Equities) and investment banking experience preferred
- Experience in working with Risk/Finance and cross markets knowledge is preferred
- Strong leadership and management experience of leading large teams.
- Experience with modern software development practices (test-driven development, Agile continuous integration)
- Solid English written and verbal communication ability, including the ability to put together clear, concise, accurate reports and Email communication
- Excellent analytical and process-based skills, i.e. process flow diagrams, business modelling, and functional design;

Responsibilities:
- Working within a shift rota to provide support coverage from 7am – 6pm
- Contribute towards ‘follow the sun’ support model, working closely with global teams in APAC and US to ensure pre-market health checks are performed for each region
- Perform regional start of day health checks to ensure all members are connected to the platform
