My client is a global law firm seeking a Payroll Manager on a temporary-ongoing basis who will be responsible for overseeing the payroll function within the UK (London and Manchester offices). You will be supported by a Payroll Assistant. Expected to have recent hands on experience of running payroll and the technicality around this.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Responsibility for the processing of the London Payroll of around 2000 employees
  • Processing of the expat/inpat and consultants payrolls
  • Producing payroll reports, including exception and ad-hoc reporting
  • Assessing all deduction reconciliations prior to payments being submitted to include PAYE/NICS, Pensions and third-party deductions
  • Administration of statutory year-end returns (P60, P11D)
  • Overseeing monthly and ad hoc disbursements to all 3rd parties
  • Managing the relationship with the company's external payroll provider
  • Supervise the Payroll Assistant
  • Working closely alongside the HR Services Manager to support and encourage collaboration and continuous improvement.

We are looking for:

  • 5 years of payroll experience in high volume payroll within a professional environment
  • Achieved CIPP qualification or working towards
  • Absolutely must have the ability to manually calculate payments without software
  • Previous experience of expat/international payroll (including modified PAYE/NIC)
  • Knowledge of managing P11d's and assessing data to identify P11d requirement
  • Experience of complex salary sacrifice schemes, including private medical, pension, insurance services (and company cars ideally)
  • Previous experience of payroll reconciliation and general ledger requirements
  • Strong customer service experience within a professional or commercial environment
  • Confidence and a flexible attitude with the motivation to overhaul procedures

IT Experience:

  • Good knowledge of SUN accounts software
  • Experience with SAP HR Software
  • High level of pc/database skills, including MS Office
