Our client is seeking an experienced and passionate Oracle DBA with experience of working in DBA teams as a team member with good analytical skills and an ability to define the precise nature of customer problems.

The role will work in partnership with the Environments Team, based in Darlington, and is focused on Infrastructure support and database and environment management. You will be working as part of a large support organisation to ensure the smooth operation of products for customers and internal customers such as the development, support and test teams.

You'll obviously have strong experience in a similar role using to ensure that roll-outs of new releases of software can be technically configured and fit within the overall technical strategy of the operations using Oracle/ Oracle OCP/ MySQL/ Microsoft MCSE/ VMWare/ Citrix/ IBM mainframe connectivity and Linux so experience with this technology is preferable.

The role will be very hands on tech, but you'll also be mentoring & managing 5 Oracle Devs (1 APEX only Dev) they also require this manager to help grow and develop an offshore resourcing team, so this will be your role too.

You'll obviously have strong experience in a similar role with strong Oracle experience. Hands on Oracle Development/Design experience ideally up to 12c but 10g/11g fine, PL/SQL skills and Forms Development experience. They also use APEX so these skills are ideal. (Strong PL/SQL & Apex skills are essential for this role)

Position: Oracle Development Manager

My client islooking for an Oracle Development Manager to manage a team of 5 Oracle Developers and 1 Oracle Apex Developer as well as being technically hands on.
The role:

  • Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs in-house developed software product, Oracle database, tools, networks etc.
  • Apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of experienced developers with considerable subject matter experience in financial services and their core product ProVision.
  • Develop and introduce best practice particularly in the areas of source control and release management.
  • Schedule and balance all support, customer and roadmap developments.
  • Lead the scaling of the team using off shore resource with partners.
  • Delivery of development work to time and quality.
  • Lead the interaction with the .NET development team ensuring the back office and digital propositions stay in step.
  • Be able to lead engagements with customers on development tasks.
  • Work with the customer support and implementation teams ensuring development plays its part in project success.


Essential Skills:

  • 10 years of experience in software design and development, with at least 2 years in a management position.
  • A background with excellent programming skills as well as in all other technical skills necessary for excellence in all stages of product development.
  • Expertise in Oracle database up to 12c, Oracle Forms 11g/12c, Oracle APEX 5, SQL, PL/SQL.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing scalable and distributed systems.
  • Deep understanding and expertise in database management features.
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in an extremely fast paced and challenging environment.
  • Expertise in distributed version control (e.g. Git), Continuous Integration and Automated Testing.


Desirable Skills:

  • Expertise in C or C , Pro*C, Oracle WebLogic, Oracle RESTful Data Services (ORDS) will be an advantage. Expertise in migration of Oracle Forms 11g to 12c.
  • Experience in outsourcing development tasks to off shore teams.
  • Experience in working within an ISO 27001 quality environment.
