Paralegal/Junior Lawyer-Private Equity

Our client is a sovereign wealth fund based in Abu Dhabi recruiting for a unique and exciting role that will combine transactional work with company secretary responsibilities as well as compliance. For instance, you will be responsible for the implementation of the administrative aspects of the investment process and assisting in monitoring compliance within Private Equity, including monitoring SPVs, coordinating with various departments, and supporting the implementation of an effective compliance strategy with the objective of supporting the investment process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Arranging and conducting board meetings, writing up minutes and records and liaising with external service providers as required for the effective execution of investment documents.
  • Establish and maintain an up-to-date corporate database.
  • Monitor practices followed at SPVs, and suggest any improvements required in order to comply with corporate substance requirements including Know Your Client and anti-money laundering requirements.
  • Coordinate with Audit, Legal, Operations, and Compliance with respect to different aspects of the investment process.
  • Liaise, and maintain relationships with, internal and external auditors.
  • Assist more senior colleagues in the development of Private Equities corporate compliance policies and the establishment of compliance review procedures for both PED and external service providers.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a legal background.
  • Private equity experience is preferred but not required.
  • 0-2 years experience in a paralegal and/or legal role.
  • Arabic preferred but not required.

Role Purpose:

  • The role will support the Regional Head on Whistleblower complaints as referred by Regulatory Compliance / Group.
  • The role provides day to day support to all stakeholders within the bank in all lines of business and functions.
  • The role will manage litigation in the UAE and other countries in the MENAT region which do not have legal team. Additionally, the role holder will provide oversight and legal advice to countries which have a legal function, as required.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and manage legal risk through the identification of trends.
  • Contribute to the regular review and redrafting of internal policies and procedures.
  • Day to day support for the Court Orders function across the MENAT region.
