Platform Engineer


McGregor Boyall has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Platform Engineer to join a growing technology consulting organization, delivering cutting-edge solutions into both the public and private sector. This is a permanent opportunity.
You will work as part of project teams delivering a full range of DevOps and Platform activities including scripting, continuous integration and continuous development (CI/CD), and configuration management. You will liaise closely with the client to ascertain requirements and communicate these internally to ensure the best possible service, building lasting relationships.

Experience Required:

  • Managing complex enterprise infrastructure environments
  • Cloud experience – AWS or Axure
  • Configuration management, automation and scripting skills (Python, Ruby, Shell)
  • Automation tooling (Terraform, Puppet)
  • Automated deployment technologies (Cobbler, Puppet, Chef, TPM, Foreman etc.)
  • Continuous integration and build tools
  • Linux/Unix system administration
  • Database knowledge and SQL skills
  • Virtualisation and Cloud orchestration – Vsphere, vDirector, Xenserver, Xen, Cloudstack, Openstack

  • Automation Test Engineer

    Globally renowned firm require a strong Technical Test Engineer to join their large team in the city. You'll be working on the testing and test automation development of APIs, Web Services and Microservices.

    Must have experience includes the following:-

    • Strong understadning of the design principles for automation frameworks
    • Previous API / Web Services test automation experience
    • SOAP and REST
    • Deep level of functional test experience including test planning, test coverage and defect tracking
    • Comfortable with the TDD and BDD framework
    • Skills in at least one programming language - in particular Python or Java or C#
    • CI / CD awareness including Jenkins / Bamboo pipelines

Well known enterprise client requires a highly technical Lead Solaris 11.x Engineer to help oversee maintenance and development of global Solaris estate as part of a small, highly specialised team. This role is suitable for fully remote working.

You must have:-

  • In-depth hands on, enterprise level Solaris 11 experience (11.3 / 11.4 preferred)
  • Proficient in IPS patch management, ZFS and Oracle Patch Deployment in a Solaris 11.x environment

DevOps Engineer (Python / Jenkins / JIRA)

Talented and passionate DevOps Engineers (Python / AWS / Jenkins) required for global medical device organisation. The end client have a genuinely exciting product range with real implications for improving lives and well being. With a new platform recently launched they require a number of DevOps Engineers of all experience levels to join their team. We're looking for candidates who really understand the importance of continuous integration and release quality. Ideally you'll have some ideas and tools to suggest of your own.

The role will see you responsible for:-

- Developing a top quality software release process

- Embedding continuous integration at the heart of the platform

- Advise on new tools and ideas that help create a best in class DevOps function

- Automation

- Cloud provisioning


To succeed here you should have most of the following :-

-Python scripting capability

- Familiar with the existing tool set (or similar): Jenkins, JIRA, git, JAMA

- Interested in API's and successful integration

- Confident plumbing in new tools / tech
