DevOps Platform Engineer

McGregor Boyall has an exciting opportunity for an experienced DevOps Platform Engineer to join a growing financial services organization within who are passionate about adopting cutting edge-technologies across their global business and redefining the future of finance. This is a permanent opportunity.

You will join a fast-paced and growing globally-distributed team based from the flagship Glasgow city centre office. You will perform the DevOps function for multiple global strategic platforms across the entire international bank which are critical to the success of the business.

The business prides itself on being at the bleeding edge of technology and developer experience for it’s teams across the globe, and this crucial team plays a huge part in this vision.

This is an all-encompassing role including investigation of issues, troubleshooting, monitoring, automation, configuration and configuration management, security, containerization, continuous integration and deployment.

Daily Activities:

  • Support activities via scripts (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Helping Development and Test resolve various issues related to environments, builds, application functioning.
  • General CI/CD pipeline creation or modernization/support where needed.
  • Management of all needed activities during environment lifecycle; installations, updates, configuration, troubleshooting, fixing.
  • Ensuring configuration management is valid and up to date.
  • Fully automated delivery using Infrastructure-as-code and DevOps techniques

Essential Experience:

  • Commercial experience of working in a DevOps role
  • Docker based application hosting
  • Continuous integration with Jenkins
  • Configuration management – Chef is preferred
  • Linux experience
  • Cloud application hosting – AWS is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of development practices
  • SQL databases

Desirable Experience:

  • Infrastructure-as-code tools – Terraform, AWS CloudFormation
  • Windows operating systems
  • ELK
  • MS SQL, Postgres
  • Groovy
  • Build and deployment of Java and .Net applications
  • Dependency management – Maven, Gradle, Nuget
  • Kubernetes, OpenShift, AWS ECS, AWS EC2

    A leading investment bank is looking for a UI Engineer with experience in React.js to join their team. Paying up to £100k per annum, depending on experience, you will be based out of their London offices. You will be a well-rounded hands-on web developer that is experienced in modern web development, deployment and support.

    You will be responsible for:

    • Write well designed, testable, efficient code
    • Use best software development practices
    • Prototype new designs to get the user feedback quickly
