Platform Support Engineer

  • 6-month rolling contract
  • Rate: £500-£700 per day – Inside IR35

An excellent opportunity for a Platform Support Engineer to be part of a team working with a leading international bank in London has arisen.


The role is to provide 2nd line technical support to the Fixed Income Rates & Credit support desks and downstream businesses. The candidate should have excellent communication skills and be service quality focused.
The role will require the management of all aspects of London and global systems for Fixed Income, working closely with all the support and development teams across the regions to continue to build a market-leading trading platform.
The team are responsible for monitoring the system availability, proactively preventing system problems, and responding to system incidents when they occur. They are also responsible for problem analysis, managing system change and ensuring minimal impact on the end users. Including unit testing and UAT. Ensure root cause analysis is undertaken for all incidents Communicating the status of the system to the support team. Providing ETAs for solutions when necessary.


Technical Skills:


Essential: Windows/UNIX, Networks, SQL, ECN connectivity.


Desirable: Tibco RV, Bladelogic, ITRS / Geneos. Reuters, Bloomberg, ION -Marketview

    Experience / Competencies:

    • Good SQL Server essential.

    • DB/2, PL/SQL and SSAS would be a distinct advantage.

    • Proven SQL Skills including stored procedures, transactions, user defined functions, DB security management and design, SQL Server Reporting Services and advanced, cross server queries.

    • The ability to turn your hand to anything, manage your own workload and deliver - often to short deadlines.

    • Knowledge of the financial markets, broking and MIFID II, while not essential would be nice to have.

    • Demonstrated and effective communication skills in writing and verbally.

    • Open to innovative ideas/ experiences and ability to create new ideas, approaches or insights.

    • Understands ideas and has a viewpoint on the markets and economy.

    • Evidence of being comfortable working in fast paced or pressured environments.

    £750 - £775 per day + Hybrid working

    UI Developer

    Job Type: Contract - Inside
    Day Rate:

    Start Date:
    Flexible - ASAP - Feb 23
    Duration:
    6 months initial - Likely to extend

    We are currently recruiting a contractor for a major bank for an initial 6 month contract.

    Key Technical Skills:

    • 5+ years of experience with JavaScript and HTML
    • Extensive experience of developing Web-based UIs with React
    • Experience of Python or a JVM based language desirable
    • Understanding of HTTP and REST based architectures
    • Experience working in a Financial Services, Banking environment or related is critical for this role

    Nice to have:

    • Basic knowledge of relational databases and SQL
    • Any experience with tools such as TeamCity, Kubernetes, OpenShift and Amazon Web Services would be beneficial.
    • Open and collaborative communication
    • Experience and aptitude of Agile and DevOps approaches – e.g. continuous integration, test automation, frequent releases, containerisation


    Competencies:

    • Ability and willingness to take personal responsibility for timeliness and quality of delivery
    • Strong collaborative communication with business users and other technology teams
