Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Data Science
The aim of the research will be to help transition towards their Net Zero goals through innovative data-centric approaches, providing accurate feedback and guidance, and to produce internationally excellent new empirical research on sustainability measurement practices and methodologies.
This research will leverage the clients very large transaction-level data pools to address core theoretical questions in the measurement of carbon emissions, and find answers with direct applicability in industry.
The research team is an interdisciplinary combination of sustainability, behavioural and economic scientists.
The findings from this research are expected to be of broad interest and will produce highly ancitipated journal articles for academic literature, with the research fellow leading the delivery of a portfolio of 2-3 papers.
Qualification required
- As an applicant, you should have a PhD in a relevant subject which could include climate change or economics, or be about to submit your PhD.
- You should have a high level of numerical literacy and a willingness to learn new approaches such as Multi-Regional Input-Output Analysis.
- You will need expertise in using R and or Python to work with large data sets.
- Experience with data base query languages like SQL is an advantage, as is experience with econometrics and machine learning.
- Experience in analysis of moderate to large data sets is an advantage.
- Experience writing up research for publication in scientific journals is essential.
- Experience presenting to academic and industry audiences is an advantage, as is experience of building productive relationships with the empathy to understand other people’s perspectives and the ability to simplify, articulate and usefully explain complex ideas to non-specialists.
