As the Lead Engineering Manager, your role will involve managing the production of an elite engineering team. The formation of the team will be overseen and controlled by you, working in conjunction with the Director of Technology.

The recently acquired division withholds diverse and balancing outdoor assets in the UK and will enhance the firms current strong advertising portfolio, and will allow advertising campaigns to interplay across platforms becoming more creative and targeted.

Engineering Manager - Go/Python - Digital – Media Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and support systems within Outdoor, ensuring that systems support business objectives
  • Manager a development team, providing advice and input on methodology, process and approach
  • Ensure solutions meets the non-functional requirements, in particular maintainability, performance, and scalability
  • Identify and exploit opportunities for code and application reuse
  • Provide development estimates as required
  • Build great software

Engineering Manager - Go/Python - Digital – Media Skills:

  • Experience building and leading engineering teams
  • Demonstrable experience in Go/Python based software development teams.
  • Experience using cloud platforms, in particular AWS, and the role of PaaS and IaaS.
  • Knowledge of REST based API.
  • Experience working in an Agile team, and tools such as Confluence and Jira.

    Job Responsibilities

    This will be a very “hands on” technical role requiring the individual to act as a technical lead to help lead and build a team of around 10-15 engineers.

    The role is with a global banking client but within a function tasked with building platforms for areas that run across the entire bank. Part of their new Digital Banking initiatives has seen the demand for building in-house platforms increase and the client is now looking at building out a platform which will act as an internal global “community” where centralised technical information can be accessed / shared across the organisation.

    Please note this role requires no previous Banking / Financial Services experience but candidates should have worked on large-scale systems within their respective industry domains.

    The role requires (but is not limited) to the following criteria:

    • Proven experience as a Technical Lead who can lead and build engineering teams (10+) as well as take ownership with experience managing global stakeholders up to the C level
    • Must possess “Hands on” Technical ability & still maintain a passion to code.
    • Contribute towards the overall design and architecture of the platform.
    • Engage directly with C-Level stakeholder with an ability to own and drive the relevance of current / upcoming technology trends to continuously evolve this “community”.
    • Proven experience building out similar platforms such as internal web portal systems / e-commerce systems / global web-based marketplace type platforms etc…

    Key Technical Skills

    The ideal candidate should have the following skills / background:

    • Proven experience of leading teams of up to 10+ engineers.
    • Hands on experience with the following technologies:
      • Java (Essential)
      • Microservices (Springboot)
      • ReactJS
      • Python (Highly Advantageous)
    • Experience working with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
    • Experience building out scalable robust platforms such as internal portal systems / web-based marketplaces / e-commerce platforms.

You will work on the delivery of multiple software development projects within an Agile environment.

All applicants must have prior Financial Services experience. You must also have experience of delivering SDLC projects in an Agile environment.
