QA Lead – London

A major financial services provider is looking for a Quality Assurance Lead to join their team in London. This role offers a highly competitive compensation package including 40 days annual leave, 16% employer pension contribution, performance bonus and private healthcare, as well as providing a great work/life balance with only occasional visits to the office a few days per year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a Technology Practice responsible for software quality assurance:
  • Establish and maintain a regular reporting cycle targeted around specific team metrics and objectives to quantify risks, improvements, and delivery status.
  • Understand training needs of QA Practice members, identifying, recommending, and organising relevant courses/exams for individuals.
  • Ensure tooling required for delivering team commitments is appropriately specified, configured, and managed in line with wider organisational governance frameworks.
  • Identify gaps in team capacity and capability, working with senior management, HR, and recruitment to grow and backfill the team as needed.
  • Act as a central point of communication across the QA discipline to identify synergies, pre-empt conflict, and connect people facing similar challenges.
  • Support personnel through their various roles and responsibilities in Agile delivery teams, coaching and challenging them to improve both their technical and communication skills.
  • Work closely with other Practice Leads to ensure recipients of team outputs are quality assured, correctly deployed, configured, and operated.
  • Establish and maintain standards and governance for software quality assurance:
  • Work with the Architecture team to understand high-level architectural components and behavioural characteristics, ensuring your team can turn these into concrete technology benchmarks and tests.
  • Document (or facilitate the documentation of) quality assurance methodologies, processes, and conventions to accelerate delivery of software across front-end and back-end systems.
  • Evaluate new and emerging technology trends to ensure that our API delivery capability remains abreast of industry trends.
  • Perfect the practise by ensuring that tooling and environments required by the team are productive, available, and secure.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for automation which improve delivery maturity in terms of cadence, quality, and consistency.

Skills & Experience:

Experience testing all aspects of distributed web-based systems built with Microsoft technologies and cloud, including:

  • Unit testing (.NET, using C#)
  • Integration testing
  • Performance testing
  • Automated CI/CD processes which include quality and security controls
  • Proven ability to establish strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders:
  • Influencing and guiding technology decisions in delivery teams
  • Managing operational, governance, and security personnel and their concerns
  • Representing the organisation and department to customers
  • Monitoring and guiding third-party suppliers and service providers
  • Liaising with senior management to refine department policy and processes
  • Familiar with (or willing to learn) test automation tools including:
  • Vividius test automation framework
  • Azure DevOps pipelines
  • Azure DevOps repositories (Git), including branch and merge strategies
  • Fast learner, able to explore, assess, and evaluate new technologies accurately and independently
  • Experience implementing complex software solutions for financial services / advice / wealth management customers
  • Strong technical communicator able to work with a multi-disciplinary development team to perfect working practices
  • Excellent verbal skills – ability to network, connect people, and marshal a team to solve problems
  • Excellent written skills – ability to review documentation and identify issues and improvements
  • Ability to utilise a team to solve deep technical problems without necessarily being an expert in the specific area

    Our client is looking for 2 Service Take-On Analysts to join the Service Take-On team within the IT Service Management department of IDD, reporting into the Service Take-On Manager.

    Role Description
    The Service Take-On Analyst tests the products and is accountable for application acceptance and checking whether security criteria have been met, flagging any potential risks to the service transition manager.

    • Supporting Product Teams to complete out transition readiness assessments prior to go live and signs off for implementation.
    • Validate changes against the transition framework and appropriate policies and procedures.
    • Proactively focusing on continuous improvement of self and service, working with others to improve the user experience, simplify processes and improve efficiency of IT Services to enable the Government’s diplomatic, development and consular work around the world.

    Candidates who secure a role that is considered specialist/technical, may be required to affiliate to the relevant specialist network, if not already a member.
