Regional Research Manager EMEA – Legal Sector

Our client a leading global law firm is looking for a regional research manager to lead the research team. You will have experience in a research manager role ideally from a large and / or a global organisation.

You will produce research and increase the businesses knowledge base through monitoring competitors, clients, their sectors and markets whilst ensuring profiles are developed and maintained based on the research conducted.

  • Manage and lead the research team
  • Produce insightful reports / profiles, through analysis of variety of different sources of information
  • Provide lawyers with regular briefings on developments unearthed through the research
  • Work closely with other teams in the business to provide research input for training, events and projects
  • Be the first point of contact for everyone in the firm in order to assist with research queries, whatever the topic
  • Assess and triage requests, often delegating to others in the team either one of the network of specialists or a junior member of staff under your supervision
  • You will also have regular interaction with a variety of stakeholders including lawyers, business developments teams and other internal clients

Experience required

  • Current/ recent experience gained in a research manager role, being able to demonstrate critical and analytical thinking
  • Experience working with a variety of stakeholders, with the ability to build strong working relationships
  • Experience managing a team
  • Strong experience using print and internet to conduct research
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, preferably in a large and / or global organisation
  • Excellent communication and written skills in English, and ideally one other language is preferred

    I am currently looking for a Test Analyst (Regulatory Reporting) to join a top investment bank based in London. The role will be a contract position working on a new project within the organisation.

    This will be a Test Analyst role within Regulatory Reporting, subject matter expert on Regulatory reporting for EMIR/MIFIDII including Asset class knowledge for Rates, Commodities, Equities, LD, Cash Equities, FX & Credit.

    Responsibilities:

    Desired Skills:

    Experienced Test Analyst

    Regulatory Reporting (MIFIDII) knowledge with working in the Financial Industry

    Excellent test analysis skills (Ideally - ISEB Software Tester or equivalent)

    Experience with the Linux, SQL & DB2

    Familiar with Backend Testing Solutions using Python / Perl / JS / Java / Saturn

    Exposure to BDD (JBehave / Cucumber/ Fitness / Concordion) - Concordion & Saturn are currently in use in this area

    Contract

    £500- £550 per day

    6 months with scope to extend

  • Entity Control Accountant - Practice Background Required
    £50000 - £60000 per annum

    My client, a large Financial Services company, is looking to hire a Legal Entity Controller to join their Central Finance team. The role will include in depth review / analysis of statements from the company's various entities, as well as the resolution of technical issues on an ad hoc basis.

    Applicants must be from a practice background and must be qualified accountants. Would suit a recently qualified accountant looking for the next step into industry with a reputable FS institution.

    Key Duties

    • Monthly / Quarterly reporting on respective entities
    • Production of statutory accounts for entities liaison with auditors
    • Assist in management of FX Exposure with regards to entities
    • Review Intercompany allocations, recharges and transfer pricing processes
    • Accurate daily cash break review
    • Ensure strong control environment is maintained
    • Ensure preparation of, and review, all consolidations. Escalate to management where necessary
    • Assist in the liquidation of unnecessary entities
    • Skills / Competencies required:

    Qualifications / Skills

    • A background in a top 10 accounting firm
    • Relevant Accounting qualification
    • Strong technical accounting skills understanding of statutory accounting
    • Strong academics
    • Strong eye for process improvement
    • Strong IFRS / UK GAAP knowledge
    • Excellent written / verbal skills

    Systems

    • Advanced MS Excel
    • Advanced MS Word and MS Power point
    • Preferable: Hyperion Essbase and Oracle Financials

    An opportunity has arisen for a Data Scientist for work for an Investment Bank in London. This is a permanent position.

    The role:

    The Data Scientist will build the next generation of data science applications & tools. You will be working with data applications, leveraging the latest analytics techniques, technology, innovation and development methodologies.

    Key Skills

    • Have hands on experience working with big data platforms and associated products (not just a theoretical understanding) such as hive, impala, oozie, Spark, neo4j etc
    • Have a strong programming with big data foundation– including Python, Scala, Java or C , R and SQL
    • Have hands on experience in data analysis and science, with a good understanding of data-mining, machine-learning and other data science techniques and applications, including prediction, optimisation, classification, anomaly detection and text analytics
