British Banking firm seeks a AVP level Java Developer paying up £100,000 per annum to work in their Repo Trading team based in London.

Overall purpose of role

  • Work independently and/or with a group of developers to develop, enhance and support Repo Market Data, Electronic Execution and other trading applications
  • Interact with traders, sales and operations on several requirements/projects.

Key Accountabilities

  • Take ownership of the deliverables of each iteration, ensuring the scope of the project/deliverables is well understood.
  • Interact with the QA team to ensure adequate tests are in place for deliverables under development.
  • Perform code reviews to ensure implemented functionality matches expectations and is in line with coding standards defined globally.
  • Play an active role in mentoring/coaching/training and development of team members.

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

  • Will interact with business users and external vendors to gather requirements.
  • Needs to communicate with global team for design and development of trading platform.

Decision-making and Problem Solving

  • Need to manage various deliverables while maintain high standards of quality.
  • Think on the feet to resolve issues during development and support

Risk and Control Objective

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.

Person Specification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Development experience using core Java and related technologies
  • Broad development experience in web development as a full-stack developer using HTML 5, Angular 2+/React, CSS 3, SASS, HTTP, TLS Authentication and related technologies.
  • Methodology/process: Agile/Scrum

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • Caching technologies: Any of these - GridGain, Kafka, SolCache
  • Testing Frameworks: Mocha/Karma/Jasmine/Protractor, Rhino Mocks/NUnit,
  • Source Control: Git
  • Messaging Technologies: Any of these - Solace, Tibco RV, JMS
  • Keen technologist with strong interest or experience in technical design and architecture of highly distributed applications and ability to pick up new technologies.
  • Experience of working in and collaborating with a geographically distributed, global team using Agile/Scrum framework for development.
  • Demonstrable experience with strong client interaction and managing user expectations.
  • Database; Oracle, Sql Server
