McGregor Boyall has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Test Analyst to join an ever-growing financial services organisation, who are passionate about adopting cutting edge-technologies across their global business and redefining the future of finance.

The Performance Tester will be based in our client’s new, hi-tech offices in the heart of Edinburgh and will be responsible for the maintenance and creation of test scripts and the organisation’s overall architecture performance.

The successful candidate will be working with various project teams to create high level tests, while identifying effective and efficient solutions. You will be expected to actively challenge business and technical requirements and ensure a risk-based approach is taken in all testing activity.

What we are looking for:

  • Strong experience with Performance testing tools, for example HP LoadRunner, Performance Centre or HP monitoring software
  • Proven ability to break down complex designs into smaller, manageable areas.
  • Ability to influence various stakeholders and team members.
  • Experience of Agile methodologies and the ability to work effectively to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Application Support Analyst/ Lead (Payments/ Unix) - Inv Bank

    I am currently looking for a Application Support Analyst/ Lead (MTS/ Linux) to join a top investment bank based in London. The role will be a permanent role and will be working on a new project within the business.

    Key Roles & Responsibilities

    • SME for MTS (Money Transfer System) to provide all-lines (1st-3rd) BAU support to the Cash business.
    • Change coordination and implementation.
    • Adhere to Change Control and Fault Reporting Procedures.
    • Audit, Risk and Control engagement.
    • Own and execute BCP/DR exercise for MTS
    • Performance/stability reviews/improvements.
    • Service Improvement Plans.
    • Major incident management.
    • Own and implement strategic initiatives across MTS consistent with rest of the function

    Skills Required

    • Experienced Application Support Analyst/ Lead
    • Banking/Finance Industry experience essential.
    • Strong experience supporting payment systems
    • Strong experience working with Unix
    • Strong technical skills on MQ, Oracle, WebServices and Java
    • Knowledge of monitoring & job scheduling tools (e.g. ITRS, BMC & Control-M)
    • Knowledge of the MTS/ ACE / Pelican / Prognosis a strong advantage.

  • Compliance Monitoring Manager
    £80000 - £90000 per annum

    Compliance Monitoring Officer

    The Role
    Compliance Assurance and Monitoring provides the firm with a key independent second line control check and challenge over the implementation and application of the regulations and controls that apply to a firm. This role is responsible for working with the Head of Monitoring and Surveillance to develop and deliver an appropriate risk - based monitoring program consisting of appropriate thematic reviews designed to test the efficacy of front-line controls in respect of regulations applicable to the business. This is to ensure that controls in place and are sufficient to ensure that the firm meets its regulatory obligations.


    • Carry out risk-based thematic desk reviews across the firm’s business units.
    • Focus on the key compliance risks and take a proportionate approach to scoping tests and completing testing efficiently to make the best use of available resources.
    • Coordinate the investigation and escalation of potential issues and documenting appropriate remedial Actions. Manage closure verification of Actions following completion, including the assessment of evidence to support closure.
    • Oversee and support reviews completed by other team members.
    • Prepare aspects of Compliance Assurance management information
    • Help enhance the Compliance Assurance programme as it evolves, liaising with the Compliance team and relevant global teams and contributing to global discussions on testing matters and sharing best practice.
    • Carry out ad-hoc spot check reviews as and when required.

    Skills & Qualifications

    • Experience in developing, documenting and executing monitoring and assurance programs.
    • Excellent presentation skills - ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
    • Previous experience of derivative, commodity and FX brokerage businesses, whether though Compliance experience or working within the business or other controls functions.
    • Ability to identify the key compliance risks in the area subject to testing and to think creatively about how these risks might manifest in practice and how a test could seek to identify this.
    • Good analytical and numerical skills, able to learn new concepts (for example reviewing trading data, looking for trends and exceptions).
    • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with members of the Compliance Department and employees in the business units and control functions subject to testing
    • Proven skills in challenging information received and ability to manage findings with the frontline businesses.
    • Broad understanding of the FCA Handbooks and the approach of regulators in EMEA, US and globally, with particular focus on UK regulators.
    • Attention to detail and proactive. Confidence to use own initiative and apply judgment in an in-house context.
    • Ability to manage delivery of a portfolio of tests and work programmes with emphasis on a strong sense of audit trails to evidence the reviews completed from start to finish with all supporting substantiating evidence captured.
    • Ability to be effective under pressure.
    • Enthusiasm and aspiration to learn and develop.
    • Previous experience with dealing with regulators and/or Auditors desirable
    • Previous Front Office experience (trader, sales) is desirable

  • BI Developer - SQL Server
    £75000 - £85000 per annum + Benefits

    BI Developer - SQL Server – London

    Main duties and purpose of the role:

    • The main objective of this role is to work on the bank’s digital workplace platform.
    • The D&A developer is required to build a selection of MIBI dashboards to give the banks relationship managers a consolidated view of their work
    • The developer will work alongside the banks UX and UI consultants to translate user journeys and wire frames to finished Power BI dashboards, with potential integration to other applications

    The role will require them to:

    • Work independently with key stakeholders across the bank, to understand and capture data and reporting requirements.
    • Based upon requirements, identify, onboard and model required datasets into the EA BI solution.
    • Use EA data model to create and deliver Power BI dashboards and reports to meet reporting requirements.
