Senior Compliance Officer

£65000 - £70000 per annum

Roles and responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include but not be restricted to the following:

  • Support the Head of Financial Security Compliance in providing guidance, advice and challenge to the Business.
  • Providing guidance, advice and challenge around estate agency specific transactions, in particular where they involve joint agents, sub agents, intermediaries and partners.
  • Providing guidance and advice to the Business in relation to all relevant rules and regulations, including but not limited to the UK Money Laundering Regulations, HMRC Guidance, RICS rules and regulations and the Estate Agency Act of 1979.
  • Ensuring the accurate completion of:
    • Customer KYC files/Due Diligence documents, as input/produced by the Business into the KYC tool or manual files in accordance with regulatory and group requirements.
  • Oversee and monitor the Financial Security Team’s management and output of all ad-hoc inquiries.
  • Manage, assess and assign within the Financial Security team all Transaction and Customer screening alerts, including when required the drafting of SARs.

Desired Experience:

  • Previous experience of KYC/client on-boarding in the Real Estate and Financial Services sectors is essential
  • Proven track record of working in Financial Security/KYC/AML/Sanctions is essential;
  • Proven track record of acting as an SME for Financial Security/KYC/AML/Sanctions matters within the Real Estate and Financial Services sectors;
  • A proven track record of managing transaction and client screening “hits”.
  • A proven track record of assessing and writing and compiling SARs.
  • A strong knowledge of AML/CTF/Sanctions UK rules and regulations relating to the Real Estate and Financial Services sectors

Data Protection Specialist

Essential Function

Data Protection:

  • Provide advice on data protection compliance risk.
  • Design and manage a data protection monitoring programme designed to assess compliance with CLS’s data protection policies.
  • Maintain up to date, the GDPR Risk and Control Logs.
  • Develop and maintain records of all CLS’s personal data processing activity, including the assessment of the lawful basis for processing.
  • Review policies and procedures to ensure these remain GDPR Compliant, as well as ensure all operational aspects meet compliance in execution.
  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments for all relevant projects, product launches and other change initiatives.
  • Manage all queries or requests from data subjects including subject access requests.
  • Work with Legal, Vendor Management and Information Security to assess new vendors from a data protection perspective and put in place appropriate data protection contractual clauses.
  • Maintain CLS’s Privacy Notice and manage distribution to data subjects.
  • Develop and manage an effective data protection training and awareness programme designed to ensure that all staff are adequately trained on and are aware of compliance requirements.
  • Contributing to horizon-scanning activities to ensure readiness for upcoming changes in laws and regulations, research and analysis on developments in privacy law.

Experience

  • B.A./equivalent required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a compliance/Data Protection function.
  • Must have 3-5 years hands-on operational experience of data protection & privacy.
  • Knowledge of national, European and Global data protection laws and practices including but not limited to an in-depth understanding of GDPR.
  • Experience of managing other security, data or risk regulatory frameworks with a security focus would be an advantage.
