Senior Data Tester – London
A fast-growing financial services provider working across 3 continents are looking for a Senior Data Tester to join their team in London. This role offers a highly competitive compensation package including up to 20% annual bonus, pension, private health care and share options as well as providing a great work/life balance with only 2 days per week in the office.
About the role
As a Senior Data Tester you will be involved throughout the development lifecycle within the Engineering team with responsibility for quality assurance and emphasis on development and implementation of test automation and data testing. You will be involved in the creation of business requirements, building test scripts and test scenarios as well as working with business and data analysts to understand the requirements so that they can be effectively tested. You will be working closely with developers as they develop code to ensure requirements are being met and to the correct quality. You will conduct automated (and manual tests where necessary) to ensure the software created is fit for purpose.
Responsibilities

  • Engage with key stakeholders, internal and external, to understand the product and user environments of the solutions we are creating
  • Create Test Automation scripts, Test Automation Approach, Test Automation Plan, Test Automation Strategy.
  • Liaise and collaborate with developers, product owners and business analysts within and within the team to create the test designs.
  • Analyse and generate Test Scripting ensuring traceability against business requirements
  • Document, investigate, and analyse defects or problems, tracking status of defects, and verifying resolution during the testing life cycle.
  • Carry out QA activities to ensure project and non-project acceptance criteria is signed off. Be responsible for executing regression tests. Raise and prioritize bugs and retest bug fixes.
  • Working with project stakeholders to produce functional specifications and define acceptance criteria.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key business stakeholders, business analysts, and all IT software providers
  • Ensure all test risks, issues and dependencies are recorded in the Project's central RAID Log, that mitigations are in place, and that timely escalations are made to the Test Lead/Project Manager
  • Provide test lead with essential information for Daily and Weekly Test Reports, and Test Completion Reports at the end of each test cycle.
  • Design, develop and support frameworks for our test infrastructure and provide automation expertise to our development teams
  • Collaborate with developers and business stakeholders in support of production releases. Able to plan how to test a feature and make appropriate decision on approach and technology
  • Working with project stakeholders to produce functional specifications and define acceptance criteria.



What we are looking for

  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of agile methodologies, the software test life cycle, with the flexibility to work from test strategy to system and component level testing
  • Experience working with Product Managers, Project Managers, and business stakeholders to develop and maintain test plans, test scripts, and test cases for manual testing procedures
  • Strong and demonstrable experience in Java, Spark, Scala, SQL, a pre-requisite
  • Knowledge of Data Lake and supporting databases, including relational and NoSQL
  • Experience with data tools: Cosmos DB, Mongo DB, Spark, Kafka, etc.
  • Strong and demonstrable experience of programming and programming constructs
  • A strong understanding of data, data sets, and data processing.
  • Thorough knowledge of Java SDK, Selenium Webdriver, Cucumber Framework
  • Knowledge of TDD and BDD methodologies and tools to apply them.
  • Knowledge to build automation systems (e.g. Maven), version control (like Git, SVN) and continuous integration tools (like Jenkins, GitLab etc)
  • Solid test automation skills (any platform and language – Java, Python).
  • Able to add Java documents to all methods to help other developers
  • Proficient in using Test management tools (e.g. TestRail, Xray, QC/ALM, Zephyr), Defect management tools (like Jira, Bugzilla etc.)
  • Experience of configuring and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of how REST Web Services and HTTP work.
  • Knowledge on cloud & containerisation (Azure, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes)
