Senior Legal Counsel, Dispute Resolution

£95000 - £100000 per annum + Bonus, and Cash benefits



Senior Legal Counsel, Dispute Resolution for Investment Bank and multinational Banking organisation. The Senior Legal Counsel is positon for a individual with 6-10 years of experience in dispute resolution; with a strong academic background (UK Law degree 2.1 or higher (grade 4.5 and higher in EU scale). This is a Non People Leader position supporting the bank activities and action in dispute resolution.

The posiotion assuming active involvement in and leadership in the management of an assigned portfolio of legal disputes that have a significant impact upon the Group including:

(a) civil litigation and arbitration proceedings; and
(b) contentious regulatory, criminal and government enquiries, investigations and proceedings.

  • Developing effective strategies on the conduct of such disputes, liaising with external legal counsel where appropriate and critically assessing advice received and implementing the agreed strategy
  • Providing effective and regular advice and communication to key internal and external stakeholders regarding the agreed upon strategy and management of disputes.
  • Providing training, advice and assistance on the implementation of best practice in relation to managing disputes
  • Identifying legal risks relating to disputes and their outcomes globally and working with internal stakeholders to ensure the effective mitigation and management of such risks.
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across the Bank.
  • This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • Have an awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

QUALIFICATIONS: Training, licenses, memberships and certifications

  • Qualified to practice as a solicitor or barrister in England & Wales and/or Hong Kong and/or Singapore and/or another common law jurisdiction and/or as an attorney qualified in New York
  • Excellent analytical skills, to review the background facts and identify the key legal issues raised by disputes
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills – leveraging a combination of technical, legal abilities and common sense to manage complex disputes
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong case management and organisational skills, including disciplined approach towards timelines and tracking all steps required in order to implement the strategic approach
  • Ability to assimilate large amount of information
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels and across all areas
  • Must be prepared to travel from time to time
  • Ability to work unsupervised with drive and self-motivation; ability to organise and prioritise proactively
  • Business acumen (including ability to assess risk and appropriate levels of return), strong interpersonal skills and multicultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Understanding of the key features of relevant laws and regulations relevant to cases under management

    Candidates must have:

    • Significant experience within portfolio definition and development, understanding business priorities, supporting business change and managing successful business partnerships.
    • Experience in managing complex programmes and ideally programmes such as Cloud, Data Centre Migration and Agile Transformation

  • Java Fixed Income eTrading Developer - Contract - £800pd
    £600 - £800 per day

    Java Fixed Income eTrading Developer – Contract – Outside IR35 – up to £800pd

    A leading investment bank in the city of London are looking to bring on multiple contract resources to help enhance their build out of a very successful Fixed Income eTrading application suite. They require Java Developers with low latency systems experience, also ideally experience of working for a Fixed Income desk (Interest Rates, Bonds, Repo), however other asset classes will be considered.

    The team have recently completed a largescale migration from a legacy “off the shelf” system and are now looking to continue the build out of in-house functionality, involving a lot of greenfield projects. Also this can provide the opportunity for the right individual to lead a team and provide design and architecture direction for the entire eTrading platform.

    Paying up to £800 per day

    • Experienced core java developer
    • Low Latency systems experience
    • Product Knowledge (preferably fixed income based)

  • Java Developer VP/SVP - FX Forwards&Swaps - eTrading - Strats

    Java Developer VP/SVP – FX Forwards & Swaps – eTrading – Quant/Strats

    A market-leading electronic fx trading team require an expert Java Developer to work for their Quant/Strats group in London. The team look after all electronic trading for FX products (Algo Aggregators, Market Making, Pricing etc…), with a focus on Forwards and Swaps for this project.

    The candidate will need to work as part of a global team and have the ability to pick up projects and run the full SDLC alone. A Java Developer with experience of multi-thread trading systems and ideally Python and KDB is the core requirement.

    You will work on the Trading Desk and report directly into the business, as they look to seriously enhance their capabilities and drastically increase revenues for the FX business, following a hugely successful year!
