Mcgregor Boyall are delighted to be working with a Global Insurance Group who have a market leading presence in the personal motor and home insurance sector. Recently the organisation has seen significant growth, with the Autonet online and van insurance specialist acquiring two major insurers into its group in December 2017 and December 2018.

This is a unique opportunity for a practically minded and commercially focussed mid-level solicitor to take on a new role within a growing business that has experienced leadership.

Structure of the Role:

  • This is a new role for an in-house solicitor as a dedicated legal adviser to the organisations sub-group of companies
  • The role will be based in Stoke on Trent, and limited travel to Manchester and to London will be required
  • The organisation has a dedicated legal team for general group legal matters, which will support this dedicated role.

Purpose of the Role:

  • To provide general legal guidance, assistance and advice to the business segment on a day-to-day basis, as part of de-centralised group structure
  • Assist and participate in contractual negotiations for the group, managing governance of projects and key stakeholders for successful conclusion of commercial arrangements
  • Provide a strong link between the Group executive team and the business and legal teams

Job Description:

  • Negotiate and draft agreements with the organisations suppliers and business partners, including insurance companies, insurance risk carriers, IT and communications suppliers
  • Review, negotiate and agree supplier terms and assist business partners with such negotiations
  • Manage key stakeholders in confirming and approving such arrangements, including compliance, data protection, finance, and executive / board level
  • Provide guidance to the business on data protection and use of data within commercial arrangements
  • Reflect Group and legal policies on risk and compliance, indemnities, data protection and liabilities into commercial agreements
  • Keep updated with changes to relevant areas of law and provide updates to the legal team and relevant business teams

Essential criteria – must be clearly demonstrated on CV

  • Solicitor qualified in England and Wales, or an equivalent foreign jurisdiction qualification
  • 4+PQE
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Knowledge of Financial Services regulatory requirements and GDPR and data handling requirements
  • Experience of reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, and identifying key areas for executive focus

Also essential:

  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to prioritise work and to work well under pressure
  • Capability to work with numerical information, plus analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Integrity and discretion when handling confidential information
  • Able to manage relationships at all levels of the business to influence the achievement of good board outcomes
  • Flexible and adaptable personal style with strong influencing and negotiation skills

    An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Low Latency Network Engineer to work for a Tier 1 banking client based in London. You will be responsible for architecture and designs for their enterprise, electronic trading network working on a number of projects.   • Development Lead / Manager (Java, Springboot, ReactJS)
    £106495 - £136076 per annum

    Job Responsibilities

    This will be a very “hands on” technical role requiring the individual to act as a technical lead to help lead and build a team of around 10-15 engineers.

    The role is with a global banking client but within a function tasked with building platforms for areas that run across the entire bank. Part of their new Digital Banking initiatives has seen the demand for building in-house platforms increase and the client is now looking at building out a platform which will act as an internal global “community” where centralised technical information can be accessed / shared across the organisation.

    Please note this role requires no previous Banking / Financial Services experience but candidates should have worked on large-scale systems within their respective industry domains.

    The role requires (but is not limited) to the following criteria:

    • Proven experience as a Technical Lead who can lead and build engineering teams (10+) as well as take ownership with experience managing global stakeholders up to the C level
    • Must possess “Hands on” Technical ability & still maintain a passion to code.
    • Contribute towards the overall design and architecture of the platform.
    • Engage directly with C-Level stakeholder with an ability to own and drive the relevance of current / upcoming technology trends to continuously evolve this “community”.
    • Proven experience building out similar platforms such as internal web portal systems / e-commerce systems / global web-based marketplace type platforms etc…

    Key Technical Skills

    The ideal candidate should have the following skills / background:

    • Proven experience of leading teams of up to 10+ engineers.
    • Hands on experience with the following technologies:
      • Java (Essential)
      • Microservices (Springboot)
      • ReactJS
      • Python (Highly Advantageous)
    • Experience working with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
    • Experience building out scalable robust platforms such as internal portal systems / web-based marketplaces / e-commerce platforms.
