The role

As a Senior Manager you will be the primary client contact for your given portfolio working closely with the relevant Director. You will have exposure to a wide range of clients and industries tailored to both your expertise and future career progression. Client contact will vary based on individual client demands from almost weekly to annually. Together with the other accounts managers you will be responsible for allocating client assignments within the work planner, to the correct level of accounts team member and ensuring the work is completed on time and within budget. You will be expected to provide constructive mentoring support to the accounts team as they continue on their professional journey.

Together with the other accounts managers, you should be continually looking for improvements within the client experience, internal efficiencies and accounts department team welfare.

You will be expected to work autonomously, managing and evaluating various client and internal demands to achieve agreed deadlines. Our clients strives to continually exceed client expectations on service and delivery.

A proven track record of expertise in accounting and corporate tax and within varied industries is a pre-requisite for the role.

IT knowledge is critical and you must be competent on Excel. You should also be comfortable with cloud based bookkeeping solutions. Financial modelling and cash flow projections are also often required by clients .

The role will be primarily office based, though our client encourages Accounts Department Managers to visit key clients as well as attending external meetings with the Directors. In addition, they would look to accounts department managers to look to get involved in business development

Requirements:

Purpose

The Position


As a Technical Accountant, you’ll report directly to the Financial Controller working with the banks Finance, Audit, Group Finance & Treasury, and more. The main objective of the role will be providing technical accounting expertise and support to the Financial Controller in the areas of accounting policy, rule changes and implementation, as well as Financial Accounting and Reporting, innovation, improvement and change implementation. Your specific responsibilities will include;

  • Be a lead point of contact for projects from a technical accounting perspective, and a point of contact for technical application of specific IFRS standards including but not limited to IFRS 9, IFRS 16, IFRS15.
  • Adjust, set and maintain relevant accounting policies, appropriate controls and documentation in respect of rule changes, innovations and improvements.

The key objectives include preparation of Group consolidated annual and half yearly financial statements (to UK listing requirements), reporting on accounting and reporting issues and developments to the Audit Committee, working with colleagues in Corporate Finance to structure deals, provision of financial information and accounting advice for transactions including acquisitions. You'll also advise operating companies in accounting matters, including implementation of new accounting standards and be responsible for ensuring that the Group maintains a sound financial control framework.

Key job responsibilities

  • Preparation of Group consolidated financial statements and disclosure notes (annual reports and press releases), project management of external financial reporting, and assisting in the preparation of commentary and analysis for shareholders, ensuring compliance of financial statements with accounting standards, company law and listing requirements in the UK.
  • Analysis and advice on the commercial and business implications of accounting issues, including preparation and review of accounting papers, to ensure compliance with the Group’s accounting policies and IFRS.
  • Preparation and presentation of accounting and financial reports to the audit committee
  • Investigate, interpret and articulate accounting policy on behalf of the Group, including the governance and maintenance of the accounting policy framework
  • Deliver automated statutory reporting software including the preparation of RFP, management of the tender process and system implementation
  • Monitoring levels of distributable reserves, working with head of treasury and tax to establish proposals for maintaining levels of reserves in parent companies
  • Providing expert support and advice to the operating businesses on the application of International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Responsibility for Group head office entities accounting and reporting, including management of preparation of statutory accounts
  • Preparation of the Group’s monthly Board reporting pack
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key parties: external audit partner and audit engagement team; operating company FDs and senior finance staff within the Group
  • Manage lessons learned working groups with internal stakeholders and external auditors to deliver year-on-year improvements
  • Responsible for development, setting and maintenance of IFRS financial accounting/reporting policies Group wide and roll out of changes to polices, processes and systems.
  • Development of control templates for group financial control and compliance with those controls, work with internal audit and risk colleagues to advise on control improvements across the business
  • Provide the Finance team and audit committee with regular technical updates to ensure the team are kept abreast of changing requirements

Financial Accountant

Role Purpose
To provide financial reporting and accounting services including the maintenance of books & records for the Company, support for of the accounts payable function and supporting the production of financial reports and general management information.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of financial recording and bookkeeping tasks within daily (post journals, investigate ageing balances and look for resolution, bank reconciliation reviews etc.), monthly & quarterly financial accounting and to ensure timely and accurate month end close for the UK legal entity and branch.
  • Perform and develop existing financial control processes, forecasting and budgeting including co-ordination of the formulation of the business plans/budgets, working in collaboration with individual business units and monitor progress towards their achievement
  • Control the operating expenses and the capital expenditure programme to ensure adherence to budget limits
  • Payment run processing review with our banking provider and working with the Treasury and Operations for any funding requirements before payments are made
  • Ensure that the statutory financial statements and annual accounts of all London based entities are prepared timely, accurately and in accordance with statutory requirements and accounting standards
  • Co-ordinate the external audit functions of books and records, and statutory financial statements.
  • Prepare financial data and reports for business management in the form and at the frequency required by the management committees, the Board and the Head Office. Provide management information of a financial nature, and its interpretation for effective business decision making.
  • Constantly strive for enhancements of the finance control framework as well as risk and control oversight process
  • Assist the tax accounting team with tax strategy, including providing information required for transfer pricing, through monthly close processes and reporting requirements including, but not restricted to expense reporting and provision of expenses monthly financial analysis.
  • Assisting in the planning, testing and implementation of systems and processes to support additional financial reporting requirements any other projects which affect the wider Finance team as required.
  • Standardising the documentation for financial operations and reporting and managing the periodic updates and reviews of those documents.
  • Provide leave of absence cover for the production of other deliverables within the department as appropriate in order to satisfy internal control framework requirements.
  • Other ad hoc projects assigned by CFO or Head of Finance.


Skills

  • Professional qualification in accounting/finance discipline (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, etc)
  • Strong academic background and degree educated.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently within a team structure.
  • Experience working at a similar level, within accounting, banking or auditing fields preferably in the financial services sector
