Global financial services client is looking for a Data Centre Engineer to join their team in London. The role should be expected to be around 50/50 office and data centre based. Data centre work will often be done in the evenings or weekends. The role will be working closely wiht the Engineers and be an important member of the team in delivering that objective.

Responsibilities include:

• DC operations, equipment installations and other changes
• Hardware maintenance swap out and work with vendors to replace faulty components
• Support Network and Systems engineers with DC work as needed
• Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation
• Work with other engineers and on delivering various projects to the right standard
• Help managed and plan DC based projects as required.
• Work at the Data Centre in Slough, days, evenings, and weekends as required.
• Carry out extensive fibre testing and process the results.
• Be a part of setting a high standard for and continually evolve the DC operations standards.

Key requirements include:

• Experience doing data centre work, equipment and cabling installations
• Fibre based cabling standards and installations
• Experience doing server configuration
• Understanding of network equipment and protocol fundamentals
• Good working knowledge of Linux & Windows operating systems and using troubleshooting tools
• Able to regularly commute to the Data Centre in Slough, have access to a car
