Software Developer – Vermillion – Edinburgh – Financial Services – SQL – 10 Months – ASAP Start - £450 per day

Role Title: Vermillion Development Lead
Location: Edinburgh
Start: ASAP
Duration: 10 Months

Job Summary
Development Lead with strong analytical and technical ability with Experience in Vermillion based reports delivery.

The Development Lead will have responsibilities for the development and delivery of Vermillion based client reports. The Lead will be responsible for interacting with Product, Global IT and Operations and Third Party Vendors teams to provide high quality reports to internal and external clients and meet the agreed and expected service standards.

Ideal candidate would be a self-contained contributor with a go getter attitude to develop reports meeting the laid down quality metrics within the project environment. The candidate would need to have prior working experience in financial services industry (preferably in investment banks). Able to work independently and has experience of leading complex and medium to large projects in a competitive and high paced environment

Primary Responsibilities

  • Requirement gathering & understanding, effort estimation, technical design, development planning, delivery and monitoring
  • Manages the deliverables. Oversees process for technical issue escalation; prioritizes technical issue resolution.
  • Communicates interdependencies in and outside of the department as well as cross product, cross project.
  • Applies good understanding of concepts and procedures within own apps development area to resolve issues.
  • Ensure the deliverables are managed within the timescales
  • Extensive liaison and direct contact with a diverse range of business and technology functions, both within the bank and with key vendors.
  • Assist in the reception and quality assurance of the business requirements, solution design and business process documents individual projects.
  • Able to take calls with quick responsiveness on asked actions
  • Develop and extend collaborative working relationships with senior clients, technology suppliers and operational support areas to quickly understand requirements, resolve problems/issues, suggest solutions and identify areas for service improvement.



Required qualification & experience

  • 8 years of overall experience that includes 5 years in the financial services industry (preferably in investment banks or software reporting product provider).
  • Minimum 3 years of hands on experience in Vermillion Development.
  • Intensive experience in the analysis, design, development and support of large complex applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree / B. Tech / M.E. / M. Tech (in computers, information technology or engineering)/MCA.



Required skills

  • Expertise in Client Reporting Tool –Vermilion Reporting Suite.
  • SQL and scripting knowledge
  • Ability to create shell and batch scripts to processing file movements between servers via AutoSys scheduler, email and sFTP protocol
  • - Experience in following agile project delivery methodology.
  • Experience in writing complex SQL, data file processing using ETL tools such as Talend, Informatica.
  • Experience in report writing using Crystal, Business Intelligence or similar 3rd party reporting tools.
  • Exposure to SQL Server and Oracle database, with leading coding languages such as .Net or Java would be a plus
  • Should have worked on various phases of client reporting.
  • Should be able to read BRD’s and work on the client requirement in the mentioned time period.
  • Should be able to create the customized templates, which includes connector, data source, component, sections.
  • Should be able to create the customized Workflow, which includes obligation, tasks, process flow.
  • Should be well versed with the report generation criteria.
  • Experience with production implementation process of the reports.
  • Experience with Investment banking Reports and modules.
  • Should be able to work with data mart development team.
  • Experience of painter based reporting solutions in a production environment
  • Understands accounting, performance and reporting
  • Expert with BRDs, testing, and the end to end development lifecycle
  • Business analyst experience (within IT is a plus)
  • Experience related to data use by non-technical end users
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Word, Macro building, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Exposure to global client and understanding of global work culture
