Software Technical Lead

McGregor Boyall has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Software Technical Lead to join a growing financial services organization within Glasgow who are committed to using technology to reinvent banking in the modern world. They have a state-of-the-art technology hub in Glasgow which will be their Technology Centre for Europe, where you will have exposure global business-critical projects.

You will take on the leadership of a growing local agile team of developers as part of a larger global digital team. You will take on responsibility for the solution design and overall strategy of the solutions your team and provide local direction, support and leadership as the team continues to grow.

The technology stack of the team includes OOP with C++, C# and Java as well as relational databases and CI/CD Devops principles. You should expect to still get involved in hands-on development as the team grows.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical delivery management and thought leadership to achieve goals
  • Supporting the business in the delivery of its strategic objectives.
  • Challenge business requirements and demands to ensure high quality deliveries are implemented and not impacting the current BAU service.
  • Hands-on development of the platform along with the buildout of new functionality, regulatory requirements and controls remediation.
  • Governance of Agile & dev ops best practices (CI/CD)
  • Active recruitment of the Glasgow team
  • Management, development and leadership of a dedicated team
  • Driving the knowledge transfer process as we look to consolidate technologies
  • Faceoff against London trading, quant, and product teams, partnership with first-line support teams, and interaction with lateral functions such as risk, controls, and compliance.

Experience Required:

  • Commercial experience as a hands-on Developer in C++, C# or Java
  • Some commercial experience of C++ is essential
  • Object Oriented Programming
  • Demonstrable experience of leading an agile team of Developers
  • Solution design experience
  • Linux, Databases, Web services, RESTful & SOAP services
  • Experience driving forward the usage of Source Control, Build Tools, TDD
  • Ability to communicate with various stakeholders including senior management

  • Java Fixed Income eTrading Developer - Contract - £800pd
    £600 - £800 per day

    Java Fixed Income eTrading Developer – Contract – Outside IR35 – up to £800pd

    A leading investment bank in the city of London are looking to bring on multiple contract resources to help enhance their build out of a very successful Fixed Income eTrading application suite. They require Java Developers with low latency systems experience, also ideally experience of working for a Fixed Income desk (Interest Rates, Bonds, Repo), however other asset classes will be considered.

    The team have recently completed a largescale migration from a legacy “off the shelf” system and are now looking to continue the build out of in-house functionality, involving a lot of greenfield projects. Also this can provide the opportunity for the right individual to lead a team and provide design and architecture direction for the entire eTrading platform.

    Paying up to £800 per day

    Requirements overview:

    • Experienced core java developer
    • Low Latency systems experience
    • Product Knowledge (preferably fixed income based)
    • Ability to work as an individual and as a team, engaging with stakeholders outside the team
    • Willing to work in a fast paced environment, with Traders, Quants and Trading Desk

  • Java Developer VP/SVP - FX Forwards&Swaps - eTrading - Strats
    £100000 - £130000 per annum + bonus, benefits

    Java Developer VP/SVP – FX Forwards & Swaps – eTrading – Quant/Strats

    A market-leading electronic fx trading team require an expert Java Developer to work for their Quant/Strats group in London. The team look after all electronic trading for FX products (Algo Aggregators, Market Making, Pricing etc…), with a focus on Forwards and Swaps for this project.

    The candidate will need to work as part of a global team and have the ability to pick up projects and run the full SDLC alone. A Java Developer with experience of multi-thread trading systems and ideally Python and KDB is the core requirement.

    You will work on the Trading Desk and report directly into the business, as they look to seriously enhance their capabilities and drastically increase revenues for the FX business, following a hugely successful year!

    Requirements Summary:

    • Core Java multithreaded programming of trading systems
    • Python and/or KDB desirable
    • Strong Derivative product knowledge (FX preferred)
    • Forwards and/or Swaps experience
    • Experience working with Traders/Quants
