Testing Delivery Manager

A large British government department has a fantastic opportunity for a Testing Delivery Manager. The successful candidate will be part of the Core Digital Team in one of the UK's biggest public service departments. The new delivery manager will be joining an existing team of specialists to deliver IT managed services, networks, end user devices, software and printing services to 180 offices and 3000 users. The delivery manager will be working on a major programme to provide 5 health assessment suppliers with managed IT services, including, government department provided networks, end user devices (laptops & peripherals), software and local printing, as well as an externally procured case management service.

The right candidate will be an experienced test delivery manager with a background of managing IT projects and successfully delivering against milestones. The role requires 3+ years as an IT Test Delivery Lead, previous experience of working in a large scale and/or Public Sector organisation managing IT projects and successfully deploying hardware and software to internal and 3rd party organisations. Experience of working as a part of a team and providing overall leadership and support to large, multiple internal teams and 3rd party organisations is also required.

The role is a 12 month contract based in the Northwest and will involve flexible, hybrid working with 40 percent of time spent in one of the Digital Hubs in either Manchester, Blackpool or Sheffield.     Clients include banks, insurance companies, pension and hedge funds, asset managers, energy producers and refiners, as well as risk and compliance managers and charities.


    Responsibilities:

    • Working within a shift rota to provide support coverage from 7am – 6pm
    • Contribute towards ‘follow the sun’ support model, working closely with global teams in APAC and US to ensure pre-market health checks are performed for each region
    • Perform regional start of day health checks to ensure all members are connected to the platform
    • Utilising proprietary tools, provide daily application support and troubleshooting for platform members and internal users, escalating to Development teams appropriately
    • Daily interaction with all internal stakeholders with regards to support issues
    • Efficiently create and track issues within an incident-management system to help identify trends and patterns
    • Create and monitor internal reports and usage queries
    • Assist with product testing and project work


    Skills:

    • At least 3 years hands-on support experience within a financial institution (buy-side, sell-side, venue/platform provider)
    • Proven experience of MSSQL, Oracle and Sybase database environments, including complex query-writing
    • Solid application support experience within a Unix / Linux environment
    • Good working knowledge of the FIX protocol
    • Proven experience of supporting Windows Server environments
    • Experience in troubleshooting network problems: i.e. firewall and routing problems
    • Good understanding of international Equity market mechanics and flows


    Desirable:

    • Exposure to supporting message-based architecture

    Responsibilities:

    • Utilising proprietary tools, provide daily application support and troubleshooting for platform members and internal trade desks, escalating to development teams appropriately
    • Fulfilling client customisation requests within algorithmic trading systems and MTF platform
    • Troubleshooting and analysis of order routing and trade flow and post-trade issues
    • Managing team chats, queues, and mailboxes to ensure requests are being actioned in a timely manner with appropriate prioritization
    • Ensuring incident and problem management procedures are followed and performing analysis to determine trends and patterns
    • Assist with product testing and project work
    • Working within a shift rota to provide support coverage from 7am – 6pm
