Wintel Server Engineer with Security Experience | CONTRACT | 6 Months Rolling | London

I am currently seeking an experienced Wintel Engineer to work a 6 month contract in London, Liverpool Street. The successful applicant will have strong Windows Engineering experience with a focus around IT Security including best pratices.

Job duties:

  • Provide close liaison with project teams to ensure the smooth transition of new applications, systems and initiatives into the production environment
  • Manage production and maintenance of integration system documentation
  • Ensure delivery of integration objectives and goals and that appropriate incident reports are prepared in a timely manner
  • Review and recommend options to improve the effectiveness of infrastructure through automation Provide escalation support for all Windows, Exchange and messaging, VMware and Citrix infrastructure in an enterprise Active Directory environment
  • Act as a visible point of contact for the Wintel Infrastructure (O/S and hardware)
  • Providing automated solutions, PowerShell, on Microsoft and VMware technologies
  • Resolve and conduct root cause analysis of system performance / failure issues
  • Establish and maintain best practices, processes and procedures to underpin the operations of the business
  • Manage configuration, installation and release management
  • Conduct performance monitoring and testing
  • Produce documentation and change control
  • Prepare and maintain technical, process and operations documentation

Technical Skills:

  • The successful applicant will be have strong Windows engineering skills specifically focused on IT and Cyber Security best practices and will be responsible for developing and implementing strong controls and security measures in line with the overall Cyber Security objectives.
  • Technologies will include but not limited to, Windows Server, Exchange Server, O365, BES, AWS, Active Directory, MS Lync, VMWare ESX, Powershell, File and Print Services, DNS, DFS, ADFS and SCCM.
  • Good technical understanding of complex messaging infrastructure’s with good messaging related troubleshooting skills.
  • Good technical understanding of IT infrastructure products, standards and configuration.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience in working through technical challenges through acquisitions and mergers
  • 5 years’ or more experience of working in a systems infrastructure role.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related disciplines.
  • Citrix, VMWare and Microsoft Certifications
  • PowerShell and VB Scripting
  • Experience of ITIL v3 standards or a certificate in ITIL v3 foundation skills beneficial
  • Ability to develop automation process using scripting languages such as PowerShell and batch.
  • The role requires an experienced Windows engineer with extensive experience of the core set of Microsoft Server products including O365 and AWS.
  • This role requires a skilled engineer with a strong delivery track record.
  • Financial institution experience in a trading environment is desirable but not essential.

  • Application Support Analyst (Fixed Income)- Hedge Fund- London
    £350 - £500 per day

    I am currently looking for an Application Support Analyst (Fixed Income) to join a very successful hedge fund based in London. The role will be a contract role and will be working on a new project within the business.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Resolution of L1/L2 issues

    Detailed analysis of issues that need escalation to L3

    Day to day management of a complex application suite, improving stability and performance over time

    On call L2 support. Able to liaise with remote teams

    Release management working closely with the Dev team

    Improve processes, tools and procedures as needed

    Perform low complexity development tasks if/when support tasks allow it


    Experience required

    Application Support Analyst

    Experience with trading systems

    Knowledge of asset classes (FX, equities, fixed income etc)

    SQL experience

    Strong academic background

    Contract

    £350- £500 per day

    Location- London

    Requirements

    • 4 Ruby experience (can use outside the rails frameworks)
    • Knowledge of Rails framework and its best practices
    • Knowledge of RubyGems and Bundler
    • Experience in Test Driven Development using the most widespread libraries
    • Good Knowledge of databases, SQL and query optimization
    • Confident in using Git and pull request based approach
