Job Title: Technical Major Incident Manager (Contract)
Location: London, UK (Hybrid - 3 days onsite)
Duration: 6-month rolling contract (up to 18 months)
Engagement: Circa £500 p/d PAYE

We are seeking an experienced Technical Major Incident Manager (VP-level contractor) to lead the end-to-end management of high-severity incidents within a complex, enterprise-scale technology environment. This is a critical role focused on driving service restoration, managing senior stakeholders, and ensuring operational resilience across a global organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and command major technology incidents across infrastructure, applications, cloud, networks, and third parties
  • Establish clear incident governance including roles, bridge calls, and communication structures
  • Coordinate technical teams and vendors to drive rapid service restoration and remove blockers
  • Provide clear, real-time updates and executive-level communications during incidents
  • Assess business impact, operational risk, and potential security exposure; escalate where required
  • Maintain accurate documentation of timelines, decisions, risks, and actions
  • Manage senior stakeholders across technology and business functions
  • Support Problem and Change Management processes, including post-incident reviews
  • Ensure seamless handover of incidents across global teams (follow-the-sun model)

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience leading major incidents in large-scale, 24/7 environments
  • Strong understanding of modern infrastructure (cloud, distributed systems, networks, databases)
  • Solid knowledge of ITIL practices (Incident, Problem, Change Management)
  • Ability to operate under pressure with excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical issues into business impact
  • Experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Awareness of cybersecurity principles and risk assessment
