FX e-Trading Application Production Engineer

  • 6-month rolling contract
  • Rate: £500-£700 per day – Inside IR35


An excellent opportunity for an FX e-Trading Application Production Engineer to be part of a team working with a leading international bank in London has arisen.


The team provides technical support for all back-end components running on FX eTrading environments (more than 600 application servers – Windows and Linux).
The team also manages connectivity to electronic trading venues (EBS, Reuters FX Matching, Currenex, CBOE-HotSpot, LMAX, Euronext FastMatch, Bloomberg, MOEX) and external clients.
Systems are complex, so as part of support activities, the range of technical skills involved is wide.
All team members need to quickly develop, or already have, a good understanding of FX eTrading systems. All engineers within the team have applications and technologies allocated to them, and they are expected to take ownership and be or quickly become experts in these areas.


Responsibilities:

  • In charge of Linux global migration for the main FX Spot Market Making platform (Adaptivator). This is a critical strategic migration for FX global business. It involves coordinating multiple teams globally to deliver the infrastructure, OS tuning expertise to optimise the performance, and global deployment of NATS, a new messaging technology introduced within the Bank.
  • Direct involvement in the analysis and build of a new FX eTrading platform in Singapore. This is a flagship project for GM IT and business with tight delivery timelines committed to Singapore government authorities.
  • Day-to-day management of production: monitoring, capacity management, problem resolution activities, change management
  • Responsible for efficient resolution of issues to minimise the impact on clients and internal users, including liaising with end users, team members, management, vendors, and other internal IT teams...
  • Assist in the development, design, and implementation of technical support systems
  • Perform activities related to implementation and rollout for upgrades of existing services
  • Work closely with development teams, business analysts, architects, and all infrastructure teams to design and set up new systems, and improve existing platforms (resilience, high availability, performance, low latency)
  • Coordinate and organise changes with external vendors, markets, ECNs
  • Plan, schedule, implement and document the change activities
  • Improve team documentation, keep it up-to-date and share knowledge with a global team


Candidate profile:

  • Strong all-around IT background and proven experience in electronic trading markets on similar global FX eTrading environments
  • Strong understanding of Linux (Redhat) operating systems to tune platforms for optimum performance (core pinning, kernel bypass)


Essential skills:

  • Scripting (Python, Shell, SQL) and development skills for administration, monitoring and support tools
  • Knowledge of FIX protocol
  • Knowledge of Broadway Technology TOC product
  • Knowledge of Azul Zing product
  • Knowledge of ITRS Geneos monitoring systems
  • Good network and firewall infrastructure understanding
  • Good understanding of multicast messaging in a Tibco RendezVous environment
  • Ability to analyse network captures
  • Project management skills to deliver medium-scale projects
