Job Title: Data Analyst

Reporting To: Head of Risk Models and Data
Department: Risk Models and Data (UKRMD)
Direct Reports: No
FCA Controlled Function: No

The Risk Models and Data team within the Risk function is responsible for the development and maintenance of models and quantitative risk tools, risk data analytics, and the regular production of a number of MI reports on various risk topics and data governance.

The Risk function operates as the second line of defence (2LOD) and provides independent oversight and control across the organisation's principal risks, including credit, financial, and operational risk.

This role is for a Data Analyst working within the Data Analytics workstream of the team. It provides an excellent opportunity for an analytics professional to be part of a diverse analytics team and to be actively involved in a wide range of initiatives such as supporting and improving regulatory management information reporting, ongoing modernisation projects, and data governance.

The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator who can collaborate cross-functionally and apply technical skills to support data analysis and enhance data-driven decision-making capabilities within the Risk function.

Main Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support modernisation activities across the team, focusing on data analysis, visualisation, and insight.

  • Collaborate closely with Data and Quantitative Risk Analysts to embed Power BI and Python into team workflows to produce insightful analysis and MI.

  • Run regular production of MI and ad-hoc requests for data analysis as required.

  • Support the development of robust data analysis for both ad-hoc and regular management reporting by providing hands-on support in the migration of SAS legacy tools into Power BI and Python tools.

  • Contribute to meeting Data Governance objectives and collaborate with colleagues within the direct team and cross-functionally to achieve this.

  • Operate in line with the organisation's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to the line manager.

Relevant Experience

  • Relevant experience working with data analysis within financial services.

  • Degree educated, or equivalent, preferably in a STEM subject.

  • Ability to demonstrate an advanced knowledge of Power BI and Python and apply those skills to improve insight and efficiency.

  • Ability to present data insights and MI clearly to a cross-functional audience at various levels.

  • Willingness to develop at least a basic working knowledge of SAS and SQL to support modernisation activities and BAU work as required.

  • Strong understanding of risk/financial terminology or a willingness to further develop this knowledge.

  • Proactive, structured, and able to build and nurture an internal professional network.

  • Willingness to work in an organised yet flexible and collaborative manner.
