The Funds Services Domain Architecture Lead is a senior technology position responsible for developing domain architecture that would enable delivery of a resilient, scalable and performant platform. Scope of the role encompasses all technology functions within Global Fund Services including Fund Accounting, Fund Administration, Middle Office, Transfer Agency, Fiduciary, Performance analytics and risk.

The candidate will work closely with product, operations, and technology partners to develop technology blueprint and architecture that will enable the execution of the business strategy, support anticipated growth, and realize operational efficiencies. The candidate will drive platform modernization, footprint simplification, new capabilities development through adoption of a modular and open architecture. The global nature of the role will require excellent networking skills across business and technology teams and regions. Collaboration, teamwork, client centricity, servicing mindset are some of the key values important for this role.

Work Activities

  • Expert at domain architecture with deep understanding of the functional components of the Fund Accounting and Middle Office technology platform. Expert knowledge of the interaction between the various components and the industry best practices.
  • Ability to analyze and functionally decompose the business requirements and collaboratively, develop solutions design in adherence with the architecture principles
  • Hands on experience in architecture patterns enabling digital transformation, platform modernization, cloud onboarding and footprint simplification
  • Lead a small and accomplished technology team of architects and solution designers specializing in the Funds domain and deep understanding of all aspects of business, application, data and infrastructure architecture
  • Demonstrated expertise in the development of standards, architectural adoption and governance methods, design patterns and IT practices. This will include standard for applications and data artifacts – process modelling, conceptual, logical and physical architecture, data dictionaries, interface definitions and the use of architecture tools
  • Own, manage and apply architecture governance on systems inventory, lifecycle management on IT assets and reducing technical debt
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of how different areas of technology, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals
  • Create highly detailed data flow diagrams and design across a complex integration footprint
  • Develop and maintain the IT asset register and the data lineage across the applications within Funds Services technology
  • Define and maintain standard entities, related to Fund Accounting, Middle Office, Transfer Agency and their corresponding dictionaries.
  • Design and management of physical architecture including hardware, capacity planning, and performance of various systems
  • Conduct design reviews with the development teams and identify the upstream and downstream dependencies
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills across all levels in the organization including executives
  • Creating traceability between service offering documents, business requirements documents and the design/build of the solution

  • Prior experience working in similar capacity for a large financial services institution
  • Expert knowledge of integration design patterns underpinning a platform composed of in-house developed and vendor applications.
  • Expert knowledge of Domain driven, and Events based architecture patterns
  • Knowledge and experience of applying advanced technologies leveraging data such as Natural language processing, Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning and predictive analytics in the context of Funds Services and Middle Office
  • Strong expertise in technical analysis. Ability to produce detailed mapping specifications and data flow diagrams
  • Design and development history indicating expertise across the full SDLC
  • Ability to gather business requirements, perform analysis and establish / recommend a data integration architecture


  • Experience building and maintaining application platform in the financial services industry
  • Knowledge of Funds Services products and service offerings with in-depth knowledge in one of Fund/Investment Accounting, Fund Administration, Middle Office, Transfer Agency, Performance Analytics.
  • Experience with enterprise/reference data models for Funds Services technology
  • Experience of modernization of applications to cloud native architecture.
  • Knowledge of external and internal systems integration through use of APIs
  • Experience with one of the enterprise metadata management tools.
  • Knowledge of one of the architecture frameworks like TOGAF, Zachman
  • Knowledge of IBOR, ABOR, PBOR and classifications driven reporting of the data

    As the adoption of Data, Analytics and Intelligent Automation continues, the role of this Applied Science Automation Designer is to ensure that these capabilities are playing an effective role in advising the Group’s Transformation agenda. Helping ensure we continuously improve outcomes for customers by having a comprehensive understanding of their financial behaviours and the products, services and processes that meet their needs.

    The role is focused on creating awareness and driving adoption of Data, Analytics and Intelligent Automation across a broad range of domains. Working collaboratively with delivery teams in the Chief Data Office and Intelligent Automation labs to apply expertise in order to shape solutions and drive data centric ways of working and deliver Automation solutions.

    Working within a small team you'll have the opportunity to influence significant and enduring change; helping improve customer experience and reach the right outcomes for customers.

    The main purpose of this role is to advocate and drive greater adoption of Data, Analytics and Intelligent Automation. Working collaboratively across a broad range of customers to identify and recommend where Applied Science tools, techniques and capabilities can improve customer outcomes and realise commercial value. Shaping new implementations and working collaboratively with the Bank of the Future and other customers to effectively resource and deliver change, realise value and deliver better outcomes for customers. You'll be key to the positioning and communication of these capabilities to colleagues across the Group.

    For this role the specific Applied Science capabilities of interest are aligned to our Intelligent Automation enablers of Digital Products, Natural Language Analytics Products, Virtual Assistants, RPA+ and Machine Learning Platforms.

    • Have a good understanding of more than one financial product end to end journey. On-boarding and/or Servicing journeys.
    • Experienced in working with senior stakeholders helping them taking critical decisions.
    • Experienced in supporting multiple business areas/projects at the same time.
    • Experienced in writing proposal document – Desired skill.

    I am currently working with an investment management company set up to pursue systematic trading strategies (currently have 5bn assets under management).

    The team are open to any programming language background with a willingness to work with Python: strong CS fundamentals and problem-solving skills matter more to the team than experience in a particular language. No finance experience is required.

    The existing team of 7 are looking for two developers to join and work on:

    - New FX and Futures execution systems
    - New Market Data projects
    - Assisting with the implementation of containers and cloud tech

    2 days per week in the office, willing to wait for candidate's bonus to be paid in Q1 before you join the team.

    Required skills:

    - Proven experience working with Python or other programming languages

    - Strong academic background
